Is your favorite franchise in a period of growth or decline?

My favorite franchise is in growth. 40 44.94%

My favorite franchise is in decline. 38 42.70%

My favorite franchise is ... 11 12.36%

One of my favs, the Mario RPG / Paper Mario / Mario & Luigi series, has been in decline since last generation. Super Paper Mario was meh, didn't care for Bowser's Inside Story, and didn't even bother with Sticker Star.

Now Paper Mario Color Splash gets announced for a dead console, and it just looks... so... UGGGGHHHHH.

All I want is a true sequel to arguably the best game in the series, The Thousand Year Door, and Nintendo keeps giving us these watered down knockoffs featuring gimmick after gimmick. You don't need to fix what isn't broken, dammit!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Xenoblade series, and all and all it's pretty stable. Sure sales have decreased (vs lifetime of the first, but keep in mind XC could still sell some copies) but its a niche game on a low install base console. Hopefully NX will have a larger install base and sell more copies.

Tiberian Sun and its expansion are so brilliant. Easily one of the defining games of the RTS golden age. The limited unit production and structure building really made those games a bit more about the strategy than Blizzard and Ensembles games. Such a shame it went downhill after EA bought westwood.

I read somewhere that if EA hadn't bought Westwood, the mutants would have been their own playable faction in Tiberian Sun.

It's a shame as well since half of Westwood went to EA which got disbanded after C&C 4, EA then tried to merge a version of Bioware into a newly created Victory studios specifically created for a new C&C Generals 2 title, then merged with the other Bioware to become Bioware Victory (not the same Bioware that made ME). After a year or two of testing with fans they just out of nowhere cancelled the game and dissolved the two studios they merged together because they felt they couldn't make a new C&C for the fans (which seems like bull when you go to great lengths to merge two studios and spend two years with an Alpha and trailers showing off Frostbite with an RTS title). It's been a few years now since they cancelled generals 2 and about nearly 6 years since C&C 4, I pretty much consider C&C to be a dead franchise, at least the other half of Westwood are still alive and they made Grey Goo, which while not the best RTS I've played in years is still better than not having one.

Mine's fading into COD's shadow, Halo... Though I wonder whether H5G is another Halo 2 (in other words, undergoing a transition from one audience to the other) or is on a permanent decline...

Mine has pretty much been dead since 2010, but with the Mega Man Legacy Collection and Capcom asking fans about Mega Man 11 and other games, it might come back in full force someday...

It's definitely not declining in quality imo. Multiplayer, gameplay and graphics are some of the best in the industry.

With the feedback 343 will improve the story in future installments.

I still blame their awful decision to go with a comic book writer rather than the bookwriter. There's a reason people complain Fireteam Osiris are compared to The Avengers...

Huuuuuuuuuuuuum... Well, Super Mario is my favourite game. Sales almost always depend on the console, since the attach rate is insane.

Recently, 3DS and Wii U did way less than DS and Wii, indeed, even if with a bigger attach rate, Mario did way less than on DS and Wii... now, NX is almost here as we know, and the sales of Mario will depend on the NX sales, so... heeeeh, i dunno. Surely Mario isn't big as in the Wii/DS era, and i don't see that back... but who know.
