Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NoE employee reportedly said that NX controller pics are fake

In a word -- yes. Nintendo doesn't trust NOA/NOE with shit, this is why things like Nintendo Directs/E3 presentations/etc. etc. etc. never/rarely leak. Because NOA/NOE employees are often clueless, this has been borne out before where some news has suddenly leaked on the internet, and a NOA/NOE employee not being up to date on it can't comment on it.

A third party though? Once you send them that dev kit, I mean sure you can make them sign NDAs and all that, but in today's day and age all it takes is one guy with a cell phone camera or a big mouth and things can leak.

NOA/NOE likely in a broad sense will learn about NX on a need to know basis, and that is right as they unveil it from Japan or maybe very slightly before.

So NOA and NOE are currently working on marketing, sales, retail, distibution, 1st party localization, 1st party publishing, legal, copyrights, trademarks, EU marks and certifications, 3rd party relations, 3rd party development, etc...with no idea what the console or handheld or hybrid device actually is?

Nintendo Spain is informed just a couple of days in advance about things like E3 announcements, Nintendo Directs and new console models like 3DS XL or New 3DS. For example, they knew what it was going to be announced at E3 2014 only a few of hours before the event started.

Obviously, Nintendo Europe and America are much important branches than Nintendo Spain, but you can get an idea about how Nintendo Japan works in this regard.

Of course he will say that it is a fake when people ask him. Or do you think he would say that the leaks are true...

A sub branch of a sub branch is going to be far more in the dark.  And Nintendo Spain doesn't deal with filing trademarks, copyrights, applying for electrical certifications and device marks, preparing 3rd parties (Massive would work with NoE, not NCL), preparing distribution, etc...on the level, or at all, that NoE does.

If NX is a 2016 device, it is not possible that NoE and NoA are not well informed about the device already.  They have to know before developers and publishers know.  Could you imagine Massive calling up NoE and asking them about questions about the SDK, the user interface, how the eShop works in game, how do they enable feature whatever, or something technical and NoE saying they don't know anything about it?   This whole premise that NoE and NoA doesn't know is silly.

I actually believe they don't know anything. It would explain their poor marketing for the Wii U.

is he the same employee that lost the piece of paper with the direct agenda a few weeks ago?

Switch!!!

The little label with the "confidential property" in those pictures is kind of weird.......
It could be some sort of small prototype, just for work with the development kit, but it still seems too strange.

My dad's uncle's friend's brother's homeboy's boo's classmate's teacher's father's boss's manager's wife's neighbor's psychiatrist's patient works at Nintendo. He tells me the images are REAL!

That is the stupidest reasoning behind something I've ever heard.

You realize it's a joke...right?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

If this is fake it's got to be one the most elaborate fakes ever. I'm inclined to believe Liam Robertson so I'm leaning towards this being fake now even though I was so sure it was real yesterday. If it is fake, I hope whoever's responsible comes forward to explain how they did it. They deserve mad props for this.

Ugh, the NX reveal can't come soon enough...

Actually what they're saying is pretty spot on as many companies operate in that need to know manner, only very key members of foreign branches will know details on NX and that will be relayed to others in the branch when things are official, it wouldn't surprise me if it's only a week or so before the official announcement. Developers would very likely have specific contact details to call in regards to enquiries.

Preparing distribution doesn't require knowing what the device features, no random person in NOE or NOA is going to know details as that's the best way to minimize leaks to the media and the competition, like what someone said earlier a need to know basis, they probably just know it's a gaming platform and that's about it.

I really don't think you guys understand what all goes on with a product launch.  All devices must be tested, trademarked, and a whole host of other behind the scenes stuff that requires some serious knowledge far more than a week prior to launch.  Certifcation testing alone takes months.

3rd parties work like Massive work with NoE, not NCL.  Who do you think Massive would contact to obtain a dev kit to begin with?

Yes, there is need to know going on but you guys are massively underestimating who needs to know what and for how long in advance.   This isn't a Nintendo Direct here.  It's a physical device that requires government agency paperwork, certification testing, devices must be rewired to European spec, trademarking, copyrighting, localization (or do all 3rd parties just get the Japanese manuals and SDKs?), support training and so much, much, much more.

We're not underestimating anything you're overestimating, yes a lot of things go on during a product launch but that doesn't mean that each person knows every detail hence my example on distribution. Need to know basis means that only select groups will know certain details, it makes it easier to not only stop leaks but to track down the source if one does occur, the people organizing transportation of the product for example don't need to know the tech in the device, the secretary filing documents doesn't need to know what the controller looks like, the people running the warehouse don't need to know the specs and so on.

Third Parties with priority would be sent a devkit and many would have been contacted by Nintendo themselves ages ago and given details in the process for acquiring a devkit or do you think Massive were calling up Nintendo "Hey man do you guys have devkits for any new platforms?"
