Yep it looks like a new gamepad.

A slimmer / lighter version.

I like the design.

I hope they sell you some transparent sucktion cup buttons, you can attach to it.

Hmm, doesn't say its "not the handheld"...Simply that it is the controller for the console. Nintys patent suggest the consoles controller will also be its own deployable platform.

??? No handles? Like the patented designs? Maybe they're attachable? No shoulder buttons either.  I kinda have my doubts now but, once they show a leak with an OS running, then I'll fully believe it. I'm posting like a madman trying to debunk this thing.

Uh, I still don't buy this, way too similar to the patent... Anyways to all the people complaining about the lack of buttons: CHILL DOWN lol, it isn't even confirmed, it isn't in the latest version (think about the Wii U with 3DS sticks instead of the regular ones, and this isn't even official immages) and remember that it's been a while since people started talking about that button shaping technology that has been available for years. heck, Nintendo even filed a patent for adaptable screens...

It would be the most simple controller on the market since the Wii remote. That alone would make up for any (unfounded) hardcore gamer fears. People know smartphones and touchscreens. They are used to them. The very fact that hardcore gamers are scared to death by these images shows how much potential it has to capture the mass market.

Of course, we have no idea if that even is the controller at this point so it's all speculation anyway. 

I'm pretty open to at least try out the touchscreen buttons (provided they have haptic feedback) and those new analog nubs.

 

What I'm more  worried about is comfort of use, as it doesn't look very comfortable to hold. Neither is the wii mote if you use it as a 'traditional' controller. I've played through Rayman ledgends with it. The cramps were not pleasant....
