Because they are betraying Wii U owners? They are a bunch of liars. Kimishim asaid that they have many unannounced Wii U games left. He also said that he wants more Splatoon-like games on the Wii U. Iwata said that Nintendo will make Wii U owners happy of owning Wii U and give them what they want. Aonuma said that Zelda will launch exclusively on Wii U. Iwata said that NX won't replace the Wii U. Those were all lies. And I'm not the one who takes lies with humor or fun. If Nintendo lies in my face I will refuse to further support them. Not to mention that the NX will most likely fail even harder than the Wii U since they make the mistake and launch it mid-gen.

I'm done with this company. They can close their doors and I won't care. They can just die now.

Even if they move on to what ever NX is.. They could still release games on the WiiU..

There could also be more splatoon-like games on WiiU..

NX wont replace WiiU.. (I cant see what that should mean) but is he meant.. we will still support WiiU.. it could still be true..

Point is.. Nintendo know that selling WiiU is a strugle.. and want to move on to NX.. But they also know that the core Nintendo fans would expect atleast 5 years of support.. So what can they do..

EASY.. :) They move on to NX.. and keep launch games that can Run on WiiU.. on WiiU for few years.. all happy.. :)

Yeah .... not gonna happen.

We already have that leak from SuperMetalDave that basically there's only one other Wii U title from Nintendo coming this year in the back half of the year and that's Paper Mario.

Nintendo does not support systems with major new software once production of the console has halted.

It's a 4 year console. People need to accept that and move on with their lives.

WHAAAAAT THEEEE FUUUUUUUCK!? :O

Usually you keep selling the previous console for a year or two after next gen comes out before discontinuing it.

I don't think WIi U hardware is  very profitable compared to Gamecube, PS2, DS, PSP etc or even 360/PS3 at their 2013 prices.

Its also currently selling like a system that has already been replaced. In 2017 it'll be doing irrelevant numbers.

If NX is backwards compatible with WiiU because of early discontinuation, then as someone who skipped the WiiU but owned a Wii, that's pretty good for me :P

The PS3 and 360 are going to outlast the Wii U and they're like 7 years older.

Well they were far more successful consoles.

I don't think it'll be directly backwards compatible but likely easy to port games to. That way Nintendo can also happily charge you $50+ a pop for games they decide to port. I don't think NX will have a disc drive at all.

I just cant see why Nintendo would not release.. lets say Pikemin4.. or other game that mayby was made for WiiU in the first place.. and can run on it.. when the only thing that would do/mean is they keep there promice about suporting WiiU a bit longer.. keep core fans happy.. and sell mayby 1-3 million games of some titles same time..

And I know Nintendo dont use to do this.. buts its also first time they ever cut the generation to 4 years.. and like gamemaster said.. they actully have sayd they would..

Well this makes more sense than Wrights thread. Hard to swallow, but could be true. Buy a Wii U while you can, they will be 400 dollars used soon!

There is no shortage of them new here in game stores, Local smiths has about 30 of each game bundle all still full price.... I've been watching them.... waiting.... wanting.....

Honestly at this stage I'm just being a fucking vulture to get my Wii-U there are some games on it I'd love to play but... it's a very finite number and I'm not willing to pay the original entry fee now for the system possibly so close to the end of it's life.

i've had every system and so far its my fav nintendo system.  I have over 500 hours on mario kart 8 and about the 200 on donkey kong.  will most likely add 200 hrs with the zelda title and of course pikmin, marios etc.  games I loved not by nintendo were ori and the blind forest, rayman legeneds, batman, and Assassins creed 3 to name a few.

Is the Wii still being manufactured? That would be pretty weird for the Wii U to cease production while the previous console still going.

No, WIi production stopped at end of 2013, one year after Wii U launch.
