He has a point. People who just bought their Wii U are gonna be so pissed. My friend literally just bought one too and if they stop making games for it at the end of 2016 then wow. It's seriously just crappy to treat your consumers like this. And that's something you can't argue

Eh, to be honest 10 minutes of research on the internet would have told you there was an imminent chance of the system being on the way out.

Nintendo announcing NX a full year ago should have been a clear sign to any reasonable person.

I said this exact thing in "Should I buy a Wii U now?" type threads on this board many times when most posters were saying "buy one! buy one!" ... I said buyer beware. Buy one now for the games it has now which are fun, but don't expect a lot in the future.

10 minutes is a bit too long.  Being a gamer and most likely if you are buying a gaming console you probably are, you can tell via 5 min of mobile phone searching on a 3inch screen.

Is the Wii still being manufactured? That would be pretty weird for the Wii U to cease production while the previous console still going.

wii stopped production about 2 years ago

I just cant see why Nintendo would not release.. lets say Pikemin4.. or other game that mayby was made for WiiU in the first place.. and can run on it.. when the only thing that would do/mean is they keep there promice about suporting WiiU a bit longer.. keep core fans happy.. and sell mayby 1-3 million games of some titles same time..

And I know Nintendo dont use to do this.. buts its also first time they ever cut the generation to 4 years.. and like gamemaster said.. they actully have sayd they would..

So discontinue the system but still release games for it? That only seems like wasted resources, especially with how small the Wii U base is and how most of them are gonna get a NX anyway.

PR bullshit as said already. Actions speak louder than words, and not a single one of their actions over the past year hint at prolonged Wii U support, only the opposite.

More important than all that though, Nintendo can't afford to support multiple systems. Even if the NX were releasing next year, the Wii U still wouldn't get anything since otherwise the NX would have nothing. Naturally their prioritys fall on the console that still has a chance.

Is that a fact?

Oh well 4 great years is enough for me this time. looking forward to next gen.

yes its been great for 299 4 years + more to come with zelda U and starfox well worth the punny 300 dollars.

I paid WAY WAY WAY more for my IPAD AIR 2 64GB with cellular capabilities and I hardly ever use it.  I mostly use it to browse at night on couch.  I feel the hype of the ipad got to me. now i know how ps4 owners feel? :P

WHAAAAAT THEEEE FUUUUUUUCK!? :O

Usually you keep selling the previous console for a year or two after next gen comes out before discontinuing it.

Its not selling right now, so...

Are they still making wii's? Would be funny if the Wii gets discontinued after the Wii U. Would be a Atari 2600 to 5200 scenario.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

There is no shortage of them new here in game stores, Local smiths has about 30 of each game bundle all still full price.... I've been watching them.... waiting.... wanting.....

Honestly at this stage I'm just being a fucking vulture to get my Wii-U there are some games on it I'd love to play but... it's a very finite number and I'm not willing to pay the original entry fee now for the system possibly so close to the end of it's life.

i've had every system and so far its my fav nintendo system.  I have over 500 hours on mario kart 8 and about the 200 on donkey kong.  will most likely add 200 hrs with the zelda title and of course pikmin, marios etc.  games I loved not by nintendo were ori and the blind forest, rayman legeneds, batman, and Assassins creed 3 to name a few.

That is a rather nuts amount of time to spend on those games, I had the full 200% in the 3DS DK game with less than 1/5 that amount of hours, does the Wii-U game actually have 5 times more content or... just doing it slowly?

As for the multiplatform games, I'm sure there is a good few of them in the early life of the Wii-U but even Ubisoft walked away from the system when it was quite clear that their customers just weren't there.

End of 2016? They haven't started producion of a new (quality) game since early 2014! Except for Paper Mario.

Everything else that's come out since then started development before E3 2014.
That should have raised hundreds of red flags right there.

Color splash is not a quality game, same tier as amiibo festival and ultra smash, so yep not a single one.

That is really a bad news.
This shows again that Nintendo is trying everything to make people forget about Wii U...
This is also another proof that NX will be a home console and will launch in 2016.
