But that (the interview) was a question directed at a Sony rep, so he had to answer the best he could. This announcement from Microsoft isn't a question directed at Sony, because they didn't even mention Sony in it at all. But you expect Sony to not only answer a statement that wasn't posed as a question or directed at them, but that they should also specifically mention Xbox, when MS didn't mention Playstation?
If Phil Spencer only wanted to open a dialogue about this, he wouldn't have been vague about it. And he could have taken the discussion directly to Sony instead of mentioning it in public before Sony are ready to reply. I don't know how long it would take to reach a decision about this. Aside from the technical discussions that need to be held, they also need to consider whether or not they would want to.  And given the fact that they are in no rush about this, it's anyone's guess when, if at all, they would make an announcement about this. Unless Microsoft straight up asks them, that is.
But they can't really make an announcement and say "Hey everyone. We would like to announce that we are open to cross platform gaming... as we've always been." Likewise, if they decide they don't want to do it, they would not want to make a public statement about that either.
So the way I see it is we will find out by seeing if there are any such games in the near future, like Rocket League.

As for good guy vs badguy, you make entire topics about that subject, so you would know better than anyone.
I'm just telling you this from a business standpoint. Not good guy or badguy.

in case you didn't know...you are arguing with someone whose girlfriend eloped with a Sony executive and got his house burnt down at the instruction of former Sony CEO Howard Stringer. Later, it was concluded that his granny's worsened hearing was due to unstable volume levels of the Sony walkman and a Sony TV caused a great deal of eye strain to his family. A lawsuit has been filed against Sont corp. Let's hope justice prevails and he wins.

The PC is the more competitive platform to playstation consoles, Mr. PC guy. So you must be talking about that.  Cross-play could have been done between the PS3, PC and 360 last gen with FFXIV if MS would have agreed to it. Also, the xbox one would have been added this gen along with the PS4 to that list if ms agreed to it last gen or the beginning of this gen. Thankfully, MS recently changed their mind on cross-play. Maybe SE will do a port of it now.

MS stated cross-play, Sony are normally up MS's @$$ on pretty much most PR they do yet this one they have kept rather quiet about and even a rep did nothing but brag about the past. It’s funny because i honestly believe when Sony are in trouble with the PS3 they were doing this to justify there console, whereas now there a top selling console where they most likely only care for themselves now. The silence and uneducated answer from a Sony's Rep is your clear answer to weather Sony want to do Cross-Play with Xbox. There’s no waiting, there’s no need to think, and it’s rather you’re in or you’re out here. Like i said before, Sony are always jumping on Xbox any chance they get with pettier things yet they seem rather quiet about cross-play when it seems to benefit another platform.

No Idea what you’re talking about here nor do I know where your trying to go with that statment. I post opinions and facts, if you don’t like my opinions or facts then I suggest avoiding my articles completely. I own all consoles, in fact I finished playing Journey Remastered on PS4 1 hour ago. I just open my eyes and not let the market win my hand. In other words I am not a sell-out.

I love games, not plastic boxes and hype. Hence why i game on Steam 90% of the time.

    

Isn't Windows PC a MS platform? Isn't Windows basically Xbox at this point? I thought MS was just opening up cross play to unify everything, and since PC and PlayStation are already together isn't that the same thing as Xbox and PlayStation?

Were not talking about last gen, we are talking about this gen. Last Gen the PS3 was in a completely different positiion compared to the PS4. Like i said, why arent Sony coming out saying that they will support it with other platforms too? Why is it just PC? Why are they stalling on the MS crossplay? I thought Sony would be the first to jump out of there chair and be happy as hell. Doesnt seem like it to me. Instead they feed there supporters stupid responses like "we been doing this with PC long ago in a galaxy far far away"

Im not gaming in last gen, i am gaming today, i want to play on a cross platform networks. The ball is in Sonys court and it doesnt seem like they want to give it back. Ill be waiting for there response.. if they ever response to it.

Oh so you're trying to pretend that last gen didn't happen or doesn't count? That's so like you. Didn't you bother to read my post, though? FFXIV ARR can be cross-played between PC, PS3 and PS4. Is that last gen or this gen? So confusing.  Sony has supported cross-play to this day from last gen. Wasn't much of a wait, huh?

As I said before, sony doesn't need to answer a PR stunt since sony asked MS years ago about supporting cross-play between them and pc.  MS finally answered with that stunt of theirs.  MS tried to make it seem like it's their idea. The spinning is not fooling a soul, though.

How's your reading comprehension?

Microsoft has extended an open invitation to "other networks" (Sony), while Sony is "happy to have the conversation" about allowing the service (with Microsoft). It seems like something of a stand-off at this point, with Psyonix looking like a mediator for the two.

How on earth does that translate to your conclusion?
Perhaps MS should put their money where their mouth is and send a team to Japan to discuss and get things going, instead of using it as PR to promote UWP.

Id be happy with that, and I doubt sony or Microsoft would want anything more than that as they are both well aware that people want to play/party up with their friends
