Forums - Gaming Discussion - Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is turning 10 years old today.

It was released exactly 10 years ago. It was the first game that got me to buy the X360 and it was also the first game that made me think "now this IS next gen".

oh

It feels like yesterday. Or last year. Whatever, feels like it's not that long ago. I think I'm getting old.

Maybe my favourite RPG experience ever. I played it pretty frequently for 3 years straight

Best Elder Scrolls and one of the best games ever made. Even with the repetitive dungeon layout at times, and the "impactless" combat, it was amazing.

Happy birthday Oblivion! I got the PC version 10 years ago, since it ran a bit better on my old PC (6800 GT) and because the Elder-Scrolls-games were extremely modding-friendly. With my new PC later that year (8800 GTX, Core2Duo) and the second generation of mods, Oblivion started through.

The one week later released "Tomb Raider: Legend" was the opposite. My PC had no chance against the 360-graphics, so I bought the console version.

If you want to go back to Oblivion these days, a fully modded PC-version is the best option:

If you want to go back to Morrowind, the quality gap is even more striking:

The "now this IS next gen" moment I already had at launch of the Xbox 360 with PGR3, especially the Las Vegas course.

Now I feel old.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

That's the game I got a 360 for, lots of good memories exploring Cyrodiil.

Wow now I feel old.

It got really boring after a while because you would never out-level your environment so there was never a feeling of growth.

Luckily there's a PC mod that removes that.

I LOVE ICELAND!

It was one of those games that made me go WOOOOW.....And evertime a friend played it on my console and they stepped out of the dungeoun;..They were like 'Now what?' ...Well you can do and go where you want ....Most of them got the game later that week and would call me in the middle of the night to say they find a unicorn or something else...Good times..
