We just heard the rumors again..  Sony may be working on a stronger PS4.. The PS4.5

Last time we heard this, was when Sony exec Masayasu in oktober 2015 talked about a high performance PS4.. and also called it PS4.5.. it was pretty clear that PS4.5 would be a new model.. and not some that existing PS4 owners could use. This offcourse is something the current userbase dont like, becourse they suddently have the weaker version of the console.

No matter how we spin it.. This will translate into some negative pr.. We offcourse not yet know if there will be games that cant run on the normal PS4, but we should expect them to run better and smooter on PS4.5.. and what about future PS4 buyers.. Will they hold back and wait for PS5.. or even loose trust in Sony.

If this is right.. How much will this affect future PS4 sales..?

Should Sony just keep quiet so they dont affect current PS4 sales.. Or would that hit them back..?

For me it would be a yes, but isn't it obvious this is just Sony making sure MS know that if they took that route they'd follow too. It's chess folks, just like when Sony reminded the press and MS that they'd been doing cross play for years. It's an internal game we see from the outside.

The PS5 Exists.

People are going to sell their PS4s because of the negative PR.

Honestly, who knows, but PS4 has alot of going on right now like potential system sellers like UC4, TLG, Horizon, COD marketing etc so it'll probanly effect only the guys who are upgrading. Most  people wouldn't care as long as they are playing the same game. It could be tough for those people who see a PS4 as some kind of symbol of status. Lol

It would probably be something along the lines of a N3DS. I doubt it would have a negative effect. Especially if there is a price drop for the older version. The two would exist hand in hand. Just don't call it a 4.5! Call it PS4 Pro of something.

Nintendo has a track record of releasing upgraded version of their handelds and it never did the said console sales wrong (some versions didn't do good, but the overall sales of both versions were still great).
I don't remember any case in which an upgraded version of a console slowed the said console sales at all. I may be wrong though.

The only effect this could possibly have on sales is positive. Some people will even get a PS4.5 even though they have a PS4 already, on top of those who were just buying for the first time.

bet: lost

I could see it that way.. And then it makes kind of sense.

But still.. i'm holding back buying a WiiU becourse I have to see what NX is first (I dont have many "free" money)

if PS4.5 is not a new console and just a juiced up PS4 then wouldn't the sales be bundled thogeter with the PS4? I mean, the New 3DS has games that the previous version don't and the sales are bundled anyway.

Yes it would.. I think mostly becourse of name.. becourse if sony called it PS5 instead.. it would not (imo)

I doubt that Sony would risk it. The PS4 is selling great and it's the market leading. MS is more likely to try something.
