Forums - General Discussion - Bald Eagle nest (1 newborn, 2nd egg hatched Sunday AM)

I love these kinds of wildlife cams, I actually have 2 in my back yard, but not trained on anything as neat as this.  I've been watching this today, I'm assuming it's the mother sitting in the nest presently.  But the other Eagle keeps coming in bringing in fresh (and usually live) fish.  I freakin love nature :)

For some reason I can't stop watching this lol. The 2nd egg is currently in the process of hatching. Of course, the parents aren't being very cooperative and keep sitting on the damn thing.

Trail cameras can get some awesome shots sometimes.

That's awesome!  I have 2 HD trail cams, one I have trained on my bird feeder in the back yard.  And the little fellow in the center frame of this...I've caught up on my bird feeder several times lol (until I started greasing the post that the feeder's mounted on top of).

The cams they have on the eagles nest...totally jelly.  Looks like they also have an IR emitter, because the Night Vision clarity is unbelievably good.

I have yet to see any babies. It's always either one of them just sitting on them or the other one bringing in some food.

I've been watching it around the clock lol, fell asleep last night with it on.  I promise you, there's a hatchling there, and there's now a hole in the 2nd egg, and it's gotten progressively bigger over the course of today.  It's great...love it...it's as close to a 'squeeeee' as you'll get out of me lol.

Actually they've posted some of baby pics from today on their facebook page, here:

One time I watched an owl cam for like a month. Saw those little monsters grow all the way up. Awesome stuff.

That's neat!  We really don't get any Owls around my house, which is a bummer.  I think I've actually only seen one in the wild, ever.  Though I've heard them often enough.

this is pretty cool. hope some redneck doesnt shoot them

The nest is located in Washington DC, it's unlikely.  Plus, it's a federal crime (protected specie...national bird), so if you're caught, your 2nd amendment rights (right to bear arms) goes bye bye (it can be gotten back, but it's...a process, and it's costly), and there are a number of other laws you could potentially be breaking as well.  So it would come with a very very hefty cost.
