It really is a good manga. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I like that it doesn't have a one-dimensional approach to the premise. Ma-kun will kick someone's ass if it's necessary and he probably does like fighting, it's just that he doesn't want to live a life based on violence. It has depth beyond that as well, which highlights that he has a different way of thinking than most people. I liked the chapter where he was walking down the street with the president and realized that she was looking at a different world than him--he was watching the punks hanging around but she was looking at the flowers and the trees.
Kaho-chan is awesome, as well. She is my second favorite character. I love when Ma-kun calls her "Mad Dog" or when he upgraded her to "Stray Dog".

I know exactly what you mean. All of the main characters are pretty interesting, though I think Ma-kun remains my favorite character, Yamada certainly keeps it all together. The whole scene from the panel you posted had to be the funniest he's been for me.
The entire dynamic between Funabashi and the president was great to see too. Her influence on Funabashi aside, I like the subtle change in how they interact with each other over the course of the manga. What you pointed out is the probably the very reason why I like Funabashi so much. For all the effort he puts into being nice, despite being almost reflexively being violent he strives to be better in spite of himself. Though yeah he defintely enjoys being bad subconciously the special treasure thing in the beginning still gets me.
The only character I wish there was a bit more attention given to was K-zawa almost ironically. Though I think the author realizes that he was pushed aside a bit and it was certainly a paid off with the way he is treated following the blue arc.
I ended up reading up to date everything last night unfortunately. This was so much of a "just one more chapter" manga for me. I need to now how to pace myself better lol.
