And, yeah, I take that back about being like Bleach.  It's nowhere near as bad as that.  I quit watching the Bleach anime in disgust when it hit the arc with the other group of people with super-powers.  It's the poster manga for going on longer than it should have (along with Yamada-kun and Variable Number of Witches). The series really does have great characters.  That's its strong suit for sure.  I liked pretty much everyone, even the teacher and the werewolf girl.

Lol I don't mind if you compare it to Bleach just suprised is all, but yeah some the characters are great. Most get better, one or two get worse and some stay the same for better or worse. I'm just glad I know you appreciated the series at some point.

Agreed. I think Oda is very capable when it comes to writing backstories for irredeemable villains. Arlong and Doflamingo were both good examples of this. Both were absolute monsters, and even though their backstories do a great job explaining why they turned out that way, it doesn't remotely absolve them for their actions. I think Big Mom will be the same way, based on how this backstory arc is going.

Nice catch on Pica! Pretty sure you're right about that. My "I think that character appears later but I can't remember how" sense was tingling like crazy.

Uh...about MHA...do you think anyone will get killed off this arc? Deku's foreshadowing from a while back was pretty ominous...like something happens this fight that can't be reversed. I'm kinda worried things are gonna hit the fan.

Sorry I didn't mean I saw Pica in One Piece. I meant that the guy's  power to shuffle the rooms in My Hero Academia reminds me of Pica's power XD. Now I feel responsible to look for familar characters lol.

Also yes there is a very real chance Mirio may die, which is why I want to him to catch up to Overhaul.

More Manga Updates

Neverland: @_@

Nice job, children! I guess this Minerva dude had this in mind long before the manga started.

I wonder what the heck Emma noticed at the end though. Things will probably get worse soon. The demons have plenty of tricks up their sleeve still.

Also, curious if whatever created these strange organisms in the forest also caused the demons to be born in the first place. They referred to them as "lowly creatures", so I guess they're familiar with whatever lies in this forest.  '

I definitely had and impression throughout the chapter that this was an out of the frying pan and into the fire situation

Fairy Tail: ;_;

On one hand, Makarov is back to life again. Totally called that. *shrugs*

On the other...Mavis and Zeref's death scene was handled well I thought. Their entire relationship has been about contradiction, life/death, love/hate, etc. Coming to terms with her feelings was the key to defeating him all along, even if it kills Mavis for real along with him.

Hopefully the last 9 chapters are handled as well as this one. Hiro might fail at story structure, but man is he great with emotional scenes.

-

This is what I read! Honestly I've never been a real fan so I read it sparingly, but yeah these last 15 chapters or so have been weird in execution especially the last one where he realized to key to beating him was friendship. Though the mangaka reeeeeaaallllly loves to draw for fairy tail so I can't bring myself to really criticize that much enthusiasm.

Seven Deadly Sins: ?

How is Elaine okay again? Did I miss a chapter? She's a cutie so I don't mind it, but I swear it's like death doesn't exist in this manga.

Guess next arc is about saving King Arthur. Should be interesting...hopefully.

I know what you mean. Also I knew that guy wasn't dead. He is way too chill though. I think the other guy is still around but I can't exactly tell.

I forgot to share my thoughts on Boku no Hero, and what a chapter it was:

I couldn't help but feel kinda uneasy reading this as they got to the underground area, with the walls shifting around into what looks like a nightmare fuel melting room. It seems like a scary dangerous quirk that seems like the user could kill with it, if they wanted to (of course that won't happen in a shonen manga like this, haha. Still, kinda scary). Also, those bad guys waiting for them in this new room (the scare crow guy looks kinda scary...)

On a lighter note, it's good to see Deku comfortably using All for One... as opposed as how currently is in the anime, haha. That one panel of him breaking the wall with the other guy looks really cool. And I'm really excited to see what the Sun guy is gonna do in the next chapter. He's usually a downer when he's present, so it's nice to see him looking fired up.

Also, the one guy with a mouth horn just looks too funny xD

I know what you mean. I still wonder if he is going to use the swordfish conventionally. Also that horn... is that his tounge? Horikoshi really has a knack for making his characters look constantly animated.

Yeah, the style is a major reason I read the manga. It's just so GREAT. It's more lively and interesting than the usual manga style. It's got a nice mix of western in there, as well as just being a unique style. And the story's pretty good too...

One Piece:

... Did she eat them? ... She... ATE them... Like.... AAATTTEEE them. DEVOURED. WOW. WOOOOOOOOW. What? WHAT!? I've been thinking about this all day. How she ATE them. Like really. This was a jaw dropper. I should have believed my instincts and realized mother was up to know good, but she was so convincing! The smoking was a major sign for me, because you are either a badass or a villain with that because that is usually due to stress or something. I knew it was wei-

SHE ATE HER... Now I'm not gonna lie.  I... KiNdA feel bad for LinLin now? Just a bit. Not because Mother was messed up (because she's just as messed up if not more), but because she ate her only family without knowing or wanting to. That I feel bad for. I guess now we have an idea how Blackbeard took Whitebeard's powers.

Like WOW SHE ATE HER!

Boku No Hero:

Pretty good. I guess it should be expected that they know their quirks. Also that snatch ability is possibly broken. That is an extremely dangerous power. I really liked the backstory with Mirio and Amajaki. Suneater also has the same fear I have that Mirio will catch up early and that may be a problem. Also the way he uses his quirk is exceptional. Also what did he eat that could break crystal with his hand? It can't be the swordfish. Anyway great chapter.

Shit...I had to re-read the chapter after this post, since my innocent mind didn't grasp that at first.

Now that I read it again...holy shit. This is too much. I can't comment on the rest of the chapter. This is like...what the heck. I've read seinen that don't get this dark. I need to walk around...

Other manga thoughts

MHA: @_@

Mirio/Suneater best bros. No homo.

Maybe suneater ate some jawbreakers before coming over. What a fun power!

Shokugeki: Fodder time

Megasshima was BAMF. Beat the Poketrainer girl before she even had her dish judged.

It was cute seeing Erina and Takumi reacting the same way to Souma. Souma's harem is worried!

Next fight appears to be Kuga, Mimisaka, and Megashima (again) vs. three of the Elites. I'm guessing this will be when the heroes get blown out, only for Erina, Takumi, and Megumi to rebound in the next round. Man I got this manga down...totally not predictable or anything.

Fairy Tail: 8 chapters left

Uhhhh...really don't like this forced drama. Pretty much Rave Master all over again.

Wonder what's coming out of that crack in time. Is Acnologia back? How will Natsu return? HMMMMMM

At least, it seemed like Happy was implying something nice. Was Natsu going to propose to Lucy? Better happen soon!!!

Seven Deadly Sins: Merlin Time?

Seems we're finally going to get Merlin's arc. I wonder what her relationship with Arthur is. She's his teacher I guess..but how did she come across him?

How did the Holy War actually end? Tell us Gowther. Tell us...

Hungry Marie: After weeks, this manga is finally getting translations again. Really hard to tell what's going on with this story now. Seems like it's going reverse harem...only not. The plot is shifting a lot in only a few chapters, but maybe it will be more consistent from here on out.

I like the scene with Taiga and Sagimiya changing though...hee hee.

Boku no Hero Academia:

It's not quite the chapter I was hoping for... (I wanted to see Suneater be cool and show off!) Backstory is nice to learn about characters though. Mirio's such a bro! And that face still cracks me up. It's nice that these 2 guys grew up together and remained such good friends. I'm hoping Suneater really shows us how it's done in the next chap!

Also, not sure how to feel about Hungry Marie. It's been a funny sort of body swapping gag manga, but it seems like a mess that's unsure where it's going or how to progress the story. It seems like it's kinda aimlessly going forward in its current state.

This made me laugh.  Certainly a mangaka who has their priorities straight.

It's the foreword from a manga titled Bokura no Kiseki.  It's really interesting so far.  It's about a boy that got picked on because he believed he was the reincarnation of a princess named Veronica, seemingly from a fantasy-type world.  He had all these memories of her, including her death as her castle was attacked and destroyed.

In middle school, he found out he could use some of Veronica's magic.

By the time he entered high school, he'd learned to not talk about his other life.  That is, until someone at his school was attacked by similar magic ...

Bokura no Kiseki is convoluted and there are so many characters to keep track of but I love the premise.  What if you're reincarnated and all your past memories come back to you, everything you felt and suffered, and right there beside you are people you know in this world but who are also the reincarnation of people who possibly betrayed you in your past life, which resulted in your death and the deaths of all those you cared about?  What would you prioritize?  Revenge?  Your relationships in this world?  And could you trust them, knowing they might be thinking something similar?  How can someone be both your friend and your enemy?  What if someone is hiding who they were or lying about what they remember?

Seems like a pretty sticky situation.

That and the art for this little bonus looks pretty dang hilarious xD

I'll see if I can give this one a read. A bunch of manga I follow got updated all at once, so now I'm reading up on those.

Bokura no Kiseki reminds me a lot of A Game of Thrones.

I mean, there is like 1/50th as much fighting and it involves one class in high-school rather than several countries, sure, but other than that ...

What gives me the similar feel is that everyone is scheming.  Everyone is suspicious, everyone lies.  Even the main character has moments where he seems very manipulative.  You'll realize someone is hiding something and you'll think, "ahha, THEY are the culprit," but then it will give you a logical reason for what they're doing and it will make them seem like they're trying to protect themselves from betrayal by someone else.  I think I might know who the main bad guy actually is but I'm well aware that it could be a red herring that's been planted behind the other red herrings.  Then again, even with those close to the main character, it's plausible that some of them are lying and/or hiding something.

The art gives me a Final Fantasy Tactics vibe, which itself was VERY Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones even came along.

My favorite characters are the girls.  Not a surprise given that the author only cares about female school uniforms (heh) but she seems to construct the female characters with more unique personalities.  One of them is very confident and upfront but she's not an overbearing type.  Another is stoic (reminds me so much of Agrias from FFT) and has a blank expression most of the time but she has her share of conflict below the surface and still manages to be one of the few character you know (hope) is genuinely good.

There are 50+ chapters out, I've read up to chapter 20.  Oh, and if anyone ever wants to try this manga, do not read the comments.  They're literally filled with spoilers.  The very first comment I read spoiled something for me.  Not that big of a deal, because it was something that was hinted at being possible earlier, but I'm not reading comments until I'm caught up.  That's why it also hard to find pages to post here.
