Pretty great actually. First there is him. And then his friend. But then you introduce more people, and more, and more.

All unique people, good personalities, and I love their different powers.

Basically a better Naruto. The rivalries make sense, he is confidant yet not constantly cocky or goofy. Plus his "power" feels balanced. Never anything crazy like Rasengan or multi-clone.  Plus a lot of it is team work and not just Naruto one manning everything.

You want to get past the beginning. Where more people are introduced and you see how they work. The first "dungeon" is early on so try that out and see how you feel.

Alright, I'll give it another shot. I didn't really like the MC, but if there are a lot more characters introduced, I'm sure I'll find a character I'll really like and stick with them in the manga. I'll see how much I can read up on it.

Yeah at first I wasn't all that into myself but it picks up fast and the characters are all pretty good imo. And the development for them as well.

104 chapters done. All caught up on Black Clover.

How would you say the manga is? My impressions on it weren't very positive, but I just read the 1st chapter. I'd like to hear more about it.

I'm caught up on it and I would agree that 'better Naruto' is a solid comparison. The world isn't quite as interesting as Naruto's imo, but the characters, the villains, and all of the interactions are much more enjoyable. While the MC is a thick-headed, hot-blooded guy he isn't aggravating about them, showing at least some common sense most of the time. Plus, side characters are equally important and he never hogs the spotlight too much. I wouldn't give the manga any awards, but it's just fun, solid shonen.

Also @ the Name of Wind mention. I still remember most of those books, but I'm not picking up the third when it comes out. Rothfuss is a master of prose, but his plot and characters are absolutely awful. The first book is still acceptable, but I found myself entirely unable to read the second. One reviewer hit it right on the head when they called it '500 pages of the most beautiful trash I've ever read'.

Admittedly, I wasn't really a fan of Naruto, but I'll still be willing to give Black Clover another read.

Muh updates

Shokugeki: New ship?

On one hand it's a childhood friend pairing, so it seems doomed. On the other hand, they aren't main characters, and they seem to fight a lot, so it seems like a net positive chance overall.

Satoshi's faith in Souma is cool. Probably burns Nene up though.

I love Alice's reactions. She wants to see that naked apron so bad XDDD

At least we're moving along. I wonder if Megasshima (former 3rd seat) will have his fight shown.

Hungry Marie: Badass Princess

The priest's daughter is cute I like how she told off Taiga before hiding a dark-red face. Dahhh...

Marie made me laugh, keeping her bento on her desk while everyone stares.

I wonder who this new pair is...*strokes chin*

My Hero Academia: Totally metal

Kirishima hype!

Not much else to say. His power-up is pretty cool. I notice he's pretty prominent in the new anime OP, so maybe the author has voiced that he wants to do more with him.

One Piece: Heart-wrenching chapter

...because it's on break this week.

Also, I doubt anyone gets into this kind of thing as much as me, but I found a recent spread drawn by the Shokugeki no Souma author showing all the current Jump girls.

I like seeing diferent artists draw each other's characters, it's fun to see how close they look. Nami looks cuter here IMO...though that's probably because I don't really like the exaggerated hourglass look Oda seems to love.

Nako-chan basically sums up what I think of when I'm reading most battle shounen.  They have revelations several times a day, it seems like, especially while doing some kind of goofy pose.

Not much to say.
But I'm currently reading
One Piece, Boku No Hero, The Promised Neverland, Magi ,Seven Deadly Sins, Jitsu wa Watashi Wa, Mob Psycho 100 and Fairy tail (sparingly)

There's a bit more, including spinoffs, just can't recall off the top of my head.

Its hard choosing a favorite genre. Usually my favorite incorporates almost everything except horror, like Gintama (though I stopped reading and watching that, because I want to marathon it). Horror is good too, just as long as its tastefully paced and doesn't have too many other genres attached to it.

Anyway, last week was a really good week. The two I'm really eyeing this week are One Piece and Neverland.

Heh nice, we have a quite a bit of overlap. I dropped Magi a few years ago, and kinda force myself to read 7DS and FT, but it counts!

About Neverland, what do you think Phil is doing? He seems pretty prominent despite backing in the background...kinda curious if he's trying to be a distraction, or if he wants to replace Ray.

I can see why with Magi. It took some turns that kind of change the overall mood a bit too much. 7DS is also losing some of my interest.

As for Neverland,

Phil... I can't say for sure. It gets harder and harder to see him as merely kid super genius there is something very creepy about him in the last week's chapter. I know the author had to leave a clue somewhere in the chapters and so far I guessed almost all of the except Ray trying to torch himself. That said, I have no idea. My wildest guess is he is a little demon child. No one with common sense could be smiling after THAT just transpired. And he's smarter than most of the kids. Him being a distraction or replacement just doesn't sit right with me with Emma leading the group.

Yeah...I didn't really care for the change in tone. The Arabian Nights tone was really unique, and I didn't exactly feel wowed by the psuedo-modern setting. I didn't hate it...but unlike some other manga I complain about, Magi was pretty text-heavy, and would take longer to read. I also wasn't crazy about the main cast, other than Morgiana and Sinbad.

I did read the spinoff for a while though, and actually grew to dislike it, despite Sinbad being my favorite character. I loved the fallen hero theme Ohtaka was going for, but reading him as a perfect hero was much less interesting. Also the cameos felt really unnatural, I remember cringing when young Alibaba just so happened to run past him one time. And don't get me started on Drakon getting cucked.

Back to Neverland though: Demon-child theory...shit I can't deny it. I've actually had a theory that the demons are actually former humans that are converted after being harvested. I don't have much reason for that theory, just that this story seems pretty grounded, and so the fantasy elements feel a bit mispaced. I think it's more likely that the demons are born from science, rather than being from the Underworld or something crazy. I could definitely be wrong...but I'm trying to think of what Norman was reacting to in his last (or most recent) panel. Am I crazy for thinking he might return somehow?

Also, I read the Hungry Marie update tonight. Man this manga is hilarious. Guess that title is pretty fitting.
