OK, so I've never really known much about manga (I've only read the first few books of the French translations of King's Game and Death Note), but I'm learning Japanese now, and would like some in order to practise. Does anyone here know of some websites that sell Japanese Manga in Canada, and some manga that isn't too difficult for people that aren't very good in Japanese?

Amazon and Amazon Japan with international shipping. Not too sure on what manga to recommend though in your case.

Hmm, I'm not sure to be honest. I guess I could just search up some articles online on which manga are best for beginners. Thanks for the site suggestions, though!

That's pretty mean to blowup doll-san.  It's true, sure, but it's mean.

I had actually typed out that I wish Diane/King were the main characters but then I deleted it.  After thinking about it, that would probably make them far less flawed and complicated.  I would not want to see them end up like Perfect McShota and blowup doll, where they create a black hole of blandness that taints everything around them.

I know you're a fan of shounen but, for me, 90% of the time, I hate the MC.  This is coming from someone who grew up reading fantasy novels all the time.  I don't know if it's manga writers or if editors are forcing a stereotype but so few of them are interesting at all.  Beyond Luffy, who actually has a unique and likeable personality, there aren't many that I wouldn't like to see fail and get kicked out by another cast member.

I like them sometimes, hate them sometimes, like them only in certain situations sometimes...I guess it depends. I admit I find that naivete somewhat infectious, and I like the reckless optimism to an extent. I do like seeing the trope used to drive a more serious point home, like One Piece and Hunter x Hunter touch on with their MCs, for example.

With Meliodas, being uninteresting is part of it, but I also feel like, even more than usual, he comes across as a severe case of author self-insert. He very rarely acts surprised or worried at anything, making it seem like he's never in any actual trouble. He follows the innocent prisoner trope, which means he gets to be both edgy and pure at the same time. His only real quirk is his perverted side, but since the target of his perversion usually acquieses, it feels less like a problem and more like that he's awesome dude that gets the girl whenever he wants. Not to mention that his blow-up doll is basically the perfect submissive waifu that would do anything for him that Japan seems to love. All these things combined, and it just feels like everytime I see him, the author is just screaming, "Hey guys! Check out my MC! Isn't he the best? Girls love him! Bad guys fear him! I bet you wish you were him!"

Woo...that was a lot of venting. I probably spend more time typing about the manga than actually reading it.

That looks like a fun, cute comic. That last panal is just gold xD I'd be outside playing actually.

That's where Kana Kana enters the picture.

xD That's funny!... and terrible! Something about that last panel just seems really funny. Just the way Kana is drawn, and that expression.

I read some of this manga, and it's quite great. I noticed it's the same one from that gif you posted with her ringing the doorbell, followed by the hit from the soccer ball. It's pretty simple, but still fun to read.

Looks like certain manga I've been reading have been getting updates again, which is nice, such as Wotaku no Koi wa Muzukashii and Saike Mata Shitemo. Wotakoi is the comical manga about the life of 2 otaku dating each other, and Saike being a more interesting, heavier and sometimes sad manga about people with special abilities, with one boy using his to act as a sort of hero, but his power comes at a great cost. It was one Pokoko recommended and I enjoy it quite a lot. Nice to see that one get an update.

Unevent updates is what makes being a manga fan difficult for me.  I fall behind, lose my place, or forget what's going on and it becomes tough for me to get back into the story.

That's what ultimately killed the Game of Thrones novels for me, too.  It took years for one of them to come out and I forgot all the little details and lesser characters, so I went back and reread the whole series.  Then the next book took years to release and I just wasn't going to do that all over again so I dropped it.

Luckily, works like WotaKoi are easy to jump back into but I admit that I'm out of the loop with Saike Mata Shitemo.

Attack On Titan Chapter 92

Well it looks like Titan Shifting is basically an accient weapon since those tanks were able to Reinner. Though that fucking titan drop that was basically a more dangerous suicide bombing. Next chapter will likely show us the aftermath of this war and the chapter after that we should hopefully go back to Eren and co and find out what became of them since the three year timeskip.

Yeah, it's even worse when a story seems to stop at a cliffhanger, and you're just left there, wondering what happens next, only to never know....

I guess it depends on the story, but it is pretty annoying with manga that update infrequent.

104 chapters done. All caught up on Black Clover.

How would you say the manga is? My impressions on it weren't very positive, but I just read the 1st chapter. I'd like to hear more about it.

Pretty great actually. First there is him. And then his friend. But then you introduce more people, and more, and more.

All unique people, good personalities, and I love their different powers.

Basically a better Naruto. The rivalries make sense, he is confidant yet not constantly cocky or goofy. Plus his "power" feels balanced. Never anything crazy like Rasengan or multi-clone.  Plus a lot of it is team work and not just Naruto one manning everything.

You want to get past the beginning. Where more people are introduced and you see how they work. The first "dungeon" is early on so try that out and see how you feel.

Alright, I'll give it another shot. I didn't really like the MC, but if there are a lot more characters introduced, I'm sure I'll find a character I'll really like and stick with them in the manga. I'll see how much I can read up on it.
