Idk man, I love my note 5 :P

Sony phones look weird tbh. Too rectangular.

They hold just fine. The problem with their looks was the bezel at first but they've even fixed that. When I say best, I mean it. Until the most recent update their Stamina mode was leagues above any competitor's battery saver (so much so that Google has used essentially the same concept with its universal power saver now), and they have the best battery life even when you don't count Stamina mode; they have the best cameras; they pioneered the water resistance that Samsung is now marketing as its own; they have PS4 remote play which is awesome for those who would use such a thing; and I believe the Z5 Premium or Ultra or whatever the name is has one of the first mobile 4K screens. Or something, I honestly forget the details of the last one.

The only thing Sony needs is marketshare lol

problem with 4k screens is that they're unnecessary and kill battery. Is it cool? Yes. But even the Iphone 6s's 720p screen and 6s+'s 1080p screen looks great. I honestly think Sony should have focused on other things besides 4k screens

The 4K screen of the Z5 Premium is only displaying content in 4K if the content actually is 4K, to save battery.

At least I believe it was something like that :-p

As much as I love playstation I think people overestimate how many people would give up their phone for a playstation branded phone.

The only way I woukd buy one is if it were as good as my Xperia, have the IP certification, and as an addition run a separate OS that you can switch between so I still have a fully functional android phone.

With all that being said I wouldn't want to compromise battery life, speed, clean and simple design, sleek look and cost either.

I really can't see how playstation phone would work in terms of profit as Apple and Windows fans won't switch over, Other android users might if it priced similar or less and doesn't compromise any other features. This phone will pretty much make their niche audience even more niche.

Sony makes the xperia brand, this time Sony owns fully The Ericsson's half..the xperia play was not made under Sony fully.

So.again how would it be hindered, if the things that made xperia smartphone's be what they are cause Sony a problem if Sony make instead a Playstation Phone..it would still be an xperia... Just streamlined for Playstation software & services added. To make it also a gamer centric smartphone.

Sony said, making another dedicated handheld game console was out of the question now not really feasible

A smartphone on the other hand to sell premium playstation games to "Gamers" would net them more money on software sales than it would be in the smartphone market as is..not many casual audience in google playstore or iOS would plop down the prices for expensive games..but in the case of gamers , if you make a quality Game like a dedicated Mobile handheld game, the return per sale of a game would be higher. Per sale of the game..

Investing into AAA smartphone games would need a good number of consumers in the smartphone market to buy those expensive games..that's why Sony's new studio is being set to bring full games to smartphone's.

If its PS2 games the price may be low costing, but a PSVita class type Level of investment would cost more than most Smartphone games..they are I doubt.want to set prices low for those game's.

No point making a playstation phone, they'd make more money making games with the Vulkan API in the future that are available to all future devices and make more money, they'd be smarter to have OTG type connection for the PS4 controller for games on phones and have the games scale based on hardware instead.

That's like saying..No need to make a windows Phone.. Or no need for Samsung to make a Phone..someone has to make the Smartphone Why not Sony? They make smart phones already as is..many say well they do not sell that well.

So if Sony makes a PlayStation Smartphone and make games for other Smartphone's Also how would that hurt Selling their own Premium Smartphone for playstation being Sold @profit?

If its profitable than its profitable.

Remember Sony is not targeting low , or trying to compete in Market share..they would be building this smartphone to tie into their PlayStation Eco system.

So again why not still sell a smartphone & software..if they are only selling one type of smartphone model..and their games are better optimize for that model , than what harm would it be to sell one model of smartphone..

If it was all about selling Software over just hardware than why would any company make any hardware and just make their Software for only one single platform.

Since Sony is not selling off their smartphone section of their company they must be seeing a use for such to still sell smartphone's ..as long as they are profitable than that's what matters right?

Some may say but if your not selling enough to matter..

Matter to whomever that may be right..investors and stock holder's right? So if investor's and stock holders get a return, that's all that matters again right?

So why not a playstation Phone..one marketing as a real playstation smartphone not a licenced one, or another companies smartphone playing PlayStation game's, but Hardware that Sony playstation is selling.

There is no need for a Windows Phone no, those things are still pieces of shits. Sony doesn't even have their own phone OS, it'd be a giant waste of money since PSP and Vita both failed to reach enough audience for them to be relevant and that won't change, even Nintendo is starting to look towards phones and their handheld is doing a lot better than Sony's ever did.

With this move ; I would be expecting a Android Os based Playstation smartphone being made for gamers and entertainment enthusiasts.

PlayStation vue
Playstation Now
And PlayStation software &Network services
added with Android OS Sony ForwardWorks making games and Apps for iOS & Android would make sure the new ForwardWorks generated profit from the get go.

Sony is selling xperia branded smarphones in the "unlocked" space..so sony PlayStation HQ is also in silicon Valley. .along with ForwardWorks it would make sense to do this.

Selling a rebranded xperia as a playstation smartphone for the US market "unlocked" would allow a mobile playstation presence with profit generated from software & profit off of hardware also.

With other Android OS & iOS Iphones, smartTV & streaming boxes. .would also generate profit for ForwardWorks.

Also will allow Sony to provide with Remote Play making the playstation Smartphone: digital download, remote play and , back catalogue rentals. Added to that it would allow Sony to have a mobile PlayStation in the market that could be set for a support cycle tie to the living room playstation console.

Sony sold more PlayStation 4's last quarter than smartphones.

That's the first time a Sony console has sold more than smartphones in a quarter.

You need volume at that price.

Sony Smartphone strategy is chaging these days and it will take time to recover and start outselling PlayStation since Ps4 is selling like madness, i mean Ps4 is going to sell >20m this year that are insane numbers for a Home Console.

Sony Phones here are selling for 800e (Premium Models), i own a phone of that price but i will remain HTC only as far as Android goes since i love them but good luck for Sony i love their products but they are not the same level as HTC on SmartPhones.

well the main point is they are moving to a clear defined move to profit! not a loss, the point is they are not trying to go after the mobile smartphone market like before..

wow a whole $3 more.
