I'm guessing they are talking about EA access and similar services? Not a bad thing honestly, if that's the case.

EA Access (Origin Access) is already on PC. You can't bring something that already exists. The only thing that doesn't exist is a live subscription.

The way they try to hide it is worrying. It's a shame because if they added mod support and do all of the above (minus the live subscription) I would be onboard to give some support to a Steam alternative.

I wasn't aware of that. Maybe it's something like Raven said. Either way, might as well just wait for their plan to get finalized before jumping to conclusions.

They lost me at subscriptions....

There most likely talking about their Windows Store having an Xbox subscription. Why not? It’s a smart move and rightfully deserving. You want to play Xbox games on PC well then here’s the deal. If you don’t want to buy a XB1 but want the games then you need to subscribe. This is nothing new. I expected this. I believe all console manufactures will follow suit very soon. I believe there will be a future Nintendo and PSN app for PCs allowing access to their games at a cost of subscribing to their services. There’s too much market being lost keeping their games locked on hardware.

I highly doubt that you need two subscriptions of Live, it should carry over to your PC Windows 10 store as well if you’re already an Xbox Owner and Subscriber. If that is the case I am all for it.

MS isn’t going to allow gamers to avoid there hardware platforms without a catch, there not that stupid. Xbox will become a universal app, and you can choose how you would like to access it, whether it be by a Console format or a PC format.

Either way this doesn’t affect me one bit. Steam still remains free and offers the best 3rd party support in the industry. If you want some of the best 1st party exclusives then Windows 10 Store has that covered at a price.

I called this a few weeks back.

What will happen imo is, Online gaming will be free and moved to Silver across all Windows 10 platforms including X1.

Xbox Gold will include free games each month for all Windows 10 platforms and a few other subscription features to make users want to subscribe.

It will be how PSPlus was on the PS3 last gen imo before Sony forced the sub.

That is how it should be.

Why are people getting worked up over subscriptions?

It could be the music service, maybe some benefits of Gold will come to Windows Store. But I think people just wanna assume the worst.

it's only the people who would never play anything MS has.
