Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why i'm probably not getting Fire emblem Fates

And i will tell you why.

Because the way the limited edition of the game has been handled in europe is disgusting at best.

The way to get it... was literally to pre-order one of the other versions of the game, and later have the option to change your pre-order to the limited edition. I mean cmon? When i went to pre-order the game and ask for the limited edition its: No, we don't know anything about a special edition.

Ok... i will wait for the special edition to pre-order it... and months later... not after a Nintendo direct or anything... the special edition shows up in shops as sold out. What the effin Nintendo of europe? What are you doing?!

This has really soured me to the whole thing because i specifically wanted the special edition and now i am probably not gonna buy the game anymore. I wasnt even given a chance to get the limited edition. Its ridiculous how this is handled. Sorry Nintendo, but if i don't get the chance to get what i want, you don't get the chance to get my money.

This is a really messed up way of handling Special editions. They gave us no info on this whatsoever. It just happened from one day to the other.

I know people that feel the same way. I never expected to get the special edition so I bought birthright and I'll get conquest for half the price later this month.

I wanted to get the special edition too, but Nintendo doesn't want my money.  I'd even settle for a regular version with all versions of the game on a single cartridge at a discounted price but they won't even bother to do that.

Yeah I'm not bothering either.
I just want the whole thing in one package. If they won't give me that then they won't get my money

They will probably end up restocking it at some point like they did with Xenoblade X's special edition, that being said, they might not, and I really hope they do so you have a chance at getting it.

Good, they need to know this release method is beyond stupid. I'll still buy the game eventually, but only when I can get it all for $40.

That's only one lost sale.

I never understood the "sorry, you can't have my money" rhetoric. Like they got someone else's. Many someone else's. Most people aren't going outright not buy a game just because they couldn't get a special edition, because most people buy games primarily to, you know, play them. Nintendo isn't having an emotional break down over one lost sale. The game still sold well. They are happy.

This way of thinking is extremely strange to me.

You didn't get the limited edition or the special edition, and there's cause to be somewhat upset for that. Deciding that it's so upsetting that you won't get the game at all, however, is quite peculiar. If Fire Emblem is a series you truly enjoy - and that seems to be the case - then you're only harming yourself with this way of thinking. It's largely irrelevant for Nintendo.

Believe me, the special edition wasn't handled any better here in the U.S.

I'm just grateful that I was able to get in a preorder at all.

Some GameStop preorders got cancelled, and a good chunk of people bought up like 5-10 special editions just to scalp them on eBay.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Sucks about how the game was distributed.

Would have liked to have all physical or all digital but not a mixture

Meh - I'll get all three eventually in the future.

If you don't forget of course! I probably will. :L
