Why haven't you bought Mario Kart, bro?

I've never actually played a MK game before lol should i take the plunge xD

For me, when it comes to Nintendo that's where it's at. So yes buy it!

There's no guarantee of backwards compatibility or that NX will be a better platform.

So take a good hard look at what the WiiU has to offer before you dump it. Methinks you haven't put the WiiU's library up to very serious consideration and owe too much of your buying decisions to Metacritic.

I'd first recommend checking out some the new Nintendo Selects for WiiU. $20 for SM3DW, Donkey Kong TF, and Pikmin 3 is a total steal. And get MK8 and Splatoon back you fool! And just try X -- if you don't like it, it should be easy to sell back for near it's original purchase price.

I'd wager some of the lesser-prominent 1st party games like Hyrule Warriors or Kirby and the Rainbow Curse you'd find really enjoyable as well.

In my opinion, there are some 3rd party games are worth your time on WiiU from earlier in its lifecycle. Highlights for me personally have been Rayman Legends, Need for Speed: Most Wanted U, Batman Arkham City, and ACIV

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

By that logic, people should buy whatever they're remotely interested in. Probably not the best way to go about buying video games, unless you've got some serious disposable income.

Reviews and opinions from people who have played it are valid reasons to base not buying something off of. They shouldn't be the only thing that factors into your equation, but if enough people are saying that something you really care about in a game is a disappointment, you shouldn't straight up ignore it either.

You yourself should know what types of games you enjoy. If i'm excited to play something, no dumb review is gonna stop me from playing it cause i know what to expect. For example, Dynasty warriors 9 will probably be critically panned and i will still be excited to play it. Because different people have different opinions, you should foster your own and not other peoples.

I'm well aware of what types of games I enjoy (though I will say every so often I find myself enjoying something I never thought I would because it was highly rated and recommended to me, like 2011's X-Com Enemy Unknown), but I'm also very much aware that the companies who make those games are not perfect. Simply looking at gameplay and my own personal "excitement" for a game is an extremely risky way of choosing which games to buy, for the aforementioned reasons.

As a personal example, I'm a big Metroid fan. Back in 2010, the entire community was extremely hyped over the newest installment of the franchise; a game called Other M. Gameplay looked extremely solid, the Metroid series had never had any real missteps to its name, and they were bringing in one of the series' most mysterious characters as another protagonist. Everyone, and everyone was excited. Had we all gone along with how "excited" we were and how much hype the videos and E3 trailers garnered, it would be the best selling game in the franchise by now.

But we didn't. As we got closer to launch, we saw the mixed reviews, and the reactions to certain cutscenes from fans. And it saved some of us a ton of lost money. Some people rented it, others borrowed it from a friend or just waited for a price drop.

Game developers, even if they're well established, are not mistake free. Gameplay videos, while they can be informative, are still scripted by the developers and tightly constrained. That's why reviews and other impressions are important. They shouldn't be the only thing, and if you've found you consistently enjoy a franchise despite poor reviews and impressions, then you're probably safe. But, in the case of this guy with Xenoblade X, if the game has consistently scored lower than the previous game in the series (which it has), and had more concerns voiced with aspects he cares about, then he's well within his right to take note and approach this far more cautiously. Perhaps it's just my status as a broke college student, but I wouldn't want to spend $60 on something unless I'm very certain I'll have a good time with it.

Maybe he will enjoy X if he gives it a shot one day. If OP has the disposable income to take risks like that, then sure, go for it, I suppose. Considering that he's been very careful with what he does and doesn't buy, however, I'm going to assume that's not the case. And, in that case, I think it's more than reasonable to wait for a price drop, at the very least. If money is a big deal, dropping $60 for what might turn out to be a thoroughly boring experience or worse would be an absolute shame.

Oh please, let's not be under any illusions here. This guy bought a console with Splatoon and then immediately traded in Splatoon without playing it. He bought a console for which there is apparently only 1 game he has any interest in. Does that sound to you like someone who doesn't have the disposable income to take risks? I certainly can't afford to buy consoles for which I have no interest in. So no, he certainly isn't careful with his money, that much is clear.

Look, it's highly likely the OP is a troll, but I'm going to assume he's not. It's pretty clear that - in the most charitable interpretation I can give - he's been a little bit silly. I have no idea why the very positive reviews X got on launch killed his hype, but hey ho, it is what it is. You do what you want OP, because you've behaved at best bizarrely up to this point so I imagine you will continue to do so.

The Wii U has some of the best exclusives for all time gaming. And Xenoblade X is arguably the best game, period, of this generation, let alone on the Wii U. Maybe your just not a Nintendo or JRPG gamer?

I cannot believe anyone can legitimately not find one game to buy on the Wii U. And Xenoblade got good reviews.

Im not saying it didn't but the post game comments killed my hype, i guess i was hoping it would exceed the previous title and was let down when it didn't

Dont trust reviews..... check out gameplay videos on youtube when searching for games and check out Miiverse opinions.

Simply put, do your research with people that actually played the games.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is gorgeous and engaging. I really recommend it to any RPG fan. Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Fatal Frame, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze are some exclusive games that are unique and provide a rich gaming experience. I really think you should give them a chance. Try the demos.

But if none of those really interest you, then you  better just sell your console away.

I bought console and then I bough one game.
Man, this console is so bad !

BTW I know one person who has a certain console and NO games with it :D seriously.

Sell it.you still get good money after 1 year

He have a Final Fantasy IX avatar... (and Final Fantasy VII Remake signature)

I know him for a while, he does like JRPGs, not so sure about Nintendo though, but he even said he wanted XCX but got put away with the reviews as he seems to be expecting something on par or better the original XC.

But a JRPG gamer would be leading to a PS4 or Vita or even the 3DS before the Wii U, you can't say the guy is not a JRPG gamer because he didn't got a single one, which he even was interested, before launch.

I have XC on my N3ds and I can barely even play it (about halfway through) because of how unpleasant it is compared to X.
