WIth android, just want a game that goes somewhere, that isn't just mindless score chasing and randomness. I want something that means something and doesn't look too pixelated. All i see on the store right now are just random garbage because I've only started mobile gaming last month.
Check out the remake of Final Fantasy Adventure I think that is something you would enjoy.

Download the Final Fantasy Portal app and pick your game you're willing to buy. Try the remaster of FF9 if you want to replay a classic.
Adventure Quest
Deck Heroes (card battling game, very addictive and strategic when you learn the basics. Best one I've found on mobile at least)
I've sunk large amounts of time into both games without spending a dime, while having extremely competent teams/decks.
Dragon Quest and FF ports are good but pricey. You can also get the original Shin Megami Tensei for $7 on it. Very nice old school dungeon crawling JRPG
