I like him alot, he's good and charismatic front man for Xbox. I don't trust everything he says and he has said some stupid stuff, but I tend to dislike "faultless" people. He keeps things interesting and seems like a nice guy who cares about gaming, you should just always remember he's not a gamer, he's a CEO.

I'm enjoying my Xbox now more than ever even though launch was a disaster. How much has Phil done I don't know, but he has been the leader when things started improving so he deserves some credit for it.

edit. Oh forgot about the fact that both Xbox and playstation fans are obsessed about him, tells you something. No-one would give a shit if he didn't at least appear to have a personality unlike test of these talking heads 😁

Not in particular. I've considered him a puppet the entire time which makes sense given the size of Microsoft. But still, he panders too much to the people and seems like a weak boss. He mentions Sony and PlayStation too much, to the point of obsession which I don't think is right for someone in his position. I don't like how much he spins everything, it gives off an air of deception. When you align his words against his actions, it becomes apparent that most of it is fluff, I don't really care much for that either. It's also really challenging to gauge how many decisions were actually brought about by him, how many were forced out of necessity and which ones he plans to act on.

I really don't like the incredibly mixed signals I get from his division as a whole. It's confusing, their vision lacks clarity and it seems like he says conflicting things daily, based on whatever suits his then current PR.

The one thing he's fast and consistent at to me is talking.

I think that there are plenty of people that could have been the savior Xbox needs, but it isn't Phil.

To his credit, there have been changes made for the better including:
- limited backward compatibility
- apparently opening up xbl for cross plat play (cautiously optimistic about this)

Microsoft clearly has a half-the-way approach to their console. they want to integrate it with PC, but don't really do it. They want to make universal apps so games work better across the board, but that doesn't work. They wanted to get some more exclusives, but that didn't really work out.

Microsoft really needs to stop with making a half-vision out of everything, pick a path and walk it!
So I'd say no. Phil Spencer might be a nice guy, but Xbox is getting nowhere at this rate.

After what Don Mattrick did at the onset of Xbox One release I think Phil is doing a good job.

I like his approach and think that the Xbox brand is in good hands with him at the helm.

He's done an awesome job. Invested alot of money into exclusive content. Made some great decisions for Xbox one and Windows 10 PC. He is also extremely approachable. Can't wait to see what he has in store for E3 and Gamescom. Already for me, Xbox has the best exclusives in a variety of genres this gen. I hope he adds to them.

I think he is doing an amazing job. I think he deserves credit for bringing backwards compatibility to XBox One (along with the engineering team who somehow made this happen), and like most people mentioned, reversing the policies / negative image that the brand had at the beginning of the generation.

Is he perfect? No. Is he a gamer? Yes. And that is great because it means he would have a better understanding of what effects a corporate decision may have.

At this point I am pretty much convinced to get my first MS console (although I am waiting for the slim version, which should be out later this year).

Yes he fixed the Xbox since its horrible reveal expanded its userbase with crossbuy and crossplay and made it the fastest selling xbox ever. I love phil he is an awesome dude.
