Just seen this article and got me thinking? if this is the start PS and Xbox players being able to play together?

I have a PS4 i love and play 90% of the time and Xbox one to play with a couple of my mates who still dont like the Dualshock 4 they say it is not good enough(it fucking well is), but if i could play all 3rd party multiplayer games with my mates on PS4 via cross platform play i wouldnt need the Xbox One yes i would miss Gears of war, but not Halo as it is now dead to me, but i could sell the xbox would save money not having live subscription, so who out there who owns multiple consoles would do the same?

I don't think Sony will allow that. Would be a stupid move as they want to sell PS4 consoles and the majority of online players exclusively on your platform is a pretty good selling point in this day and age. I don't see it happening.

it's a good selling point for current gen.
but what about next gen etc?
every new gen there is a chance they will fall behind and won't be the market leader without the big audience. it's a huge risk.

xbox, mobile and pc play minecraft all in one world, but playsation will not follow?
i don't see this happen. cross platform is the future. you better join... (at least for some or most of your games)
and both sony and ms are already doing multiplatform. just not yet the full open all for everything stuff.

Nothing's stopping them to adapt once the market requires them to do so. No reason for overreacting right now.
