Can't wait to see how they're going to solve the whole mouse vs. controller issue. I'm guessing all FPS games are off the table.

Only in terms of PC x-play. There could still be console cross platform play.

I'm HOPPPPPPIIIINNNNGGGG Blizzard updates Diablo 3 to allow cross platform play now. (and implements seasons to kill off all the douche bag cheaters).

Xbox one is getting full Mouse and keyboard support this holiday. So its up to the developer if they want to implement PC controls on a console version. Not sure about PS4.

Speaking of mouse versus controller, I had a coworker tell me awhile ago that he hated PC gamers. When I told him I game on both, he was like, "well ... I guess you're okay."

When I said, trying to be positive, that they both have their strengths and weaknesses, I could tell that he became somewhat offended. In a defensive tone, he said something along the lines of, "what strengths do you think the PC has over a console?" I was nonplussed, as I thought that was a commonly held opinion and thus a safe thing to say.

The rest of the conversation went something like this:

Me: "Well, for instance, how the mouse is more accurate ..."
Him: "In what way? I think the controller is just as accurate."
Me: "But, you know, how doing fine tasks like browsing or using an app is faster and easier with a mouse ..."
Him: "I use a controller for browsing all the time, it's just as fast and easy as with a mouse."
Me: "Yeah, um, you're probably right."

Guys like them want to play directly against m/kb users so they can prove their superiority. Please, let them. Please.

For crossplay to work.. will it not atleast have to run at the same framerate..?

And also what about higher resolution on pc..?

If pc gamers are looked to Xone specs.. I could see them be pissed about it..

That was never an issue with online games on PC. Best rig, lowest ping, has an advantage, just the way it is.
I doubt they'll be so dumb as to lock pc gamers into 900p30, controller only, with simulated tv display lag :p

Does this mean we can have friends on other consoles? Mind blown.
Now that I think about that, seems to be a bit more work than simply allowing cross play.
I assume all the normal features, add friends, chat, report players etc all need to be supported (and not abused)

Supported since launch afaik. And even has it's own peripherals as you can see.
No clue if any games support it though, I only use a keyboard for messages, never tried in game.

Rocket league was cross platform between PS4 and PC from day 1. The only limitation being that you couldn't party up across platforms.

I don't know why cross platform play is such big news since it's been around for a few years already, just not with Xbox.

Maybe some games could work, but you wont be seeing any games like cod / battlefield, it would not work

PC users (that use mouse+keyboard) playing with Console users (that use controllers) isnt a good idea, for competitive shooters and the like.

Medium keybouse+mouse players usually beat great controller users, in shooters.
Its a unfair system, and its not a good thing if your allowing both to play together on same servers (atleast pvp wise).

Kinda funny to call it an open invitation while Sony and Nintendo have been open to it for a couple of years already. It's called RSVP not invitation!

But now all 3 are open to it, maybe it will finally happen?

The way they word it it's left up to developers. So I guess psn xbox live cross chat and friends is not part of the deal. More like, devs are allowed to figure out how to combine different players themselves.

PS4 has allowed KB&M since launch... just literally nothing uses it man.
