343 needs better everything.

Hear, hear.

The Halo series has really suffered under 343. What was once the premiere console FPS is now just another also-ran.

That was because there were a lot of people that used to play arena FPS back then, now twitch shooters dominate.

New gen players now think Halo gameplay is hard and games like COD and Battlefield are easier to pick up and play. That's not 343i's fault, matter fact in 3 years, they gave more to Halo universe than Bungie did in a decade.

I am amazed that people in this thread actually think the Halo 4 campaign was good. I guess Halo really is in the hands of a new generation. Even when Halo 4 was released it was more hated than any game I have ever seen in my life and that's the official waypoint forums I am talking about. 343i were literally banning everybody and his mom because of the backlash.

That sh*t is a cesspool, you graduate sh*t talking on Youtube, before you can comment there.

Not to mention not retconn 3 seperate novels when making the story for Halo Reach......and 343 actually acknowledges the lore in Halo Wars, where as Bungie didn't think it deserved to be part of the franchise.

The frustrating part is that Bungie knew they were on their way out and stopped caring about the lore. They made zero effort to compare their story to the lore established since 2001. But now its cannon, and most Halo fans aren't into the story enough to know about the contradictions. So now you have Halo story casuals and actual lore fans constantly fighting over that.

But ya....343 needs better writers ;)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Most of gaming needs better writers. Most of the games you think have good writing need better writers.

Your posts need better writters...

Just kidding. =P

...you need to write better :P

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

You're right that there's more competition than ever, but that's just part of the equation. Halo has declined in both single-player and multiplayer since 343 took control. Halo 5's multiplayer was a step forward from 4, no question, but overall it's a mediocre package.

And about lore and mythology: I'm just not interested. I care about how the game plays, not about which characters, races, and planets are important in novels and comic books. Yes, the storylines in 1-Reach are modest compared with 343's plot lines. But, for me, that's for the better. I'd rather have a simple story that gives me as a player motivation than a convoluted soap opera.

I think you just don't care about Halo story.

It's only convoluted if you don't follow it, the story leading up to Halo 5 was on every big gaming outlet and here on VGC Xbox threads.

Halo 5 story is quite simple compared to Halo 4.

And as for the multiplayer mediocrity you mention, I think you'll be alone on this claim. The game has grown immensely especially this year, with more modes ever added to a Halo game.

Halo 4 had the best story but that writer went somewhere else, I love Halo 5s story but I'll admit, they need to get rid of Brian Reed. Have Joseph Staten or Eric Nyuland write halo 6.

Definitely yes.

I actually haven't purchased Halo 5, yet. I liked Halo 4, though.
I HOPE that since they're making a video game, they make the gameplay first and then tossing in a narrative to match the fun. Yeah, it's possible (and preferable) to have a good narrative and good gameplay but when it comes to Halo, make it play good. It's an fps before anything.

It plays better than H4.
