Yeah, everything is too samish imo. Feels like I'm playing the same game over and over again.

Pretty much.

Everything feels like dreary shades of generic Hollywood mush. Destiny, Watch Dogs, Division, Titanfall, Evolve, Ryse, Until Dawn, The Crew, The Order, Dying Light, Knack, Ryse, Driveclub... the all just feel like soulless, cynical regurgitations of other, better games.

You're ignoring alot of promising IPs.

The ones a good bit of us are mentioning in this thread.

I'm very cynical about those.

No Man's Sky smells like another Spore to me, (overpromise and underdeliver) and I don't have faith in Horizon because of who's developing it. I'll confess Ni-Oh and Quantum Break don't look bad, but they don't do anything to really wow me either.

Have you been watching the available vids or reading much about 'em? I'm asking that because I know that you don't have much interest in playstation or xbox games to begin with and I don't know really know how much pay attention to anything gaming related.  Admittedly, I overlook some new IPs because their trailers did a little too much teasing and not enough explaining what the game is all about. Sometimes I just forget about a game/new IP when there's a bunch of new IPs around.

I check out major trailers when they pop up, as I remain open to the possibility of getting an Xbox One or a PS4 further down the line, much like I didn't buy a Wii U at first, but did once it got more games I was keen on.

Have I been thoroughly following them? No, not really, and that is something I should probably address.

I know I come across as a downer in my lack of enthusiasm for most new games these days, and I assure you I'm not being intentionally morose for the purposes of riling people up. I just find it genuinely hard to summon enthusiasm for the direction gaming seems to be going these days. Most here will know I'm a Nintendo fan, yet I'm currently not planning to buy their next system as even they are simply no longer meeting my needs.

I think the kind of gamer I am is just a poor fit for the current marketplace.

The Last Guardian. A story told in silence is my personal favorite kind of story telling. The game seems to have a world that draws you in. Doesn't seem to be lacking in the gameplay department as well.
