Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Special edition of Twilight Princess hd + Amiibo turned me off from buying it

I live in Argentina, here we preorder nintendo games because they are very niche, most gamers are pc gamers (counter strike, online multiplayer games and strategy games) or playstation gamers (fifa and shooters) I am sure Sid Meier's Civilization is much more well known here than the Legend of Zelda.

I went to store A, asked if they had the game, they told me they sold all the ones they imported in 2 days (this wednesday and thursday), I went to store B, and they had the special edition that includes the Midna amiibo.

I saw the box, and I thought, if I bought this, I would probably never open it in order to collect it, and end up buying the game digitally in order to be able to play it, which wouldnt be an intelligent use of my money, since the special edition costs around 110 dollars here

And if I were to open it, I would have an amiibo around in the room, and I dont want any amiibo, never bought one

So, I told myself, I prefer to buy this once digitally, and that is something I can do at any moment, later this year, after all, right now I am busy with fire emblem, and next month I will be busy with dark souls.

I ended up using the money to preorder Star Fox

I just wanted a normal box with a disc and nothing else.

Eventually they'll begin selling the game without an amiibo. I'm sure of it. Maybe then you might be interested(?)

bet: lost

I imagine it will be so
I prefer to own physical videogames when it is single player games, and only prefer digital for online games.
I think I will wait until the end of the year to see if it gets a normal retail release without the midna amiibo, although it isnt certain it would get imported here. I may have to import it myself.
I may dedicate next southern hemisphere summer to beating the metroid prime trilogy, twilight princess, wind waker, and the new zelda for wii u.

You could just sell the Amiibo...

I dont think Amiibos are as popular here as they are in the USA

And also, the Midna amiibo will be useful, mainly, for people who bought Twilight Princess HD, who should in most cases already have that Amiibo.

I will buy the game later this year, but digitally, most likely.

ebay?

Collectors not interested in TPHD would go crazy for a loose Midna Amiibo, and those who would want to keep their boxed set sealed like you would also love a loose Amiibo to use and/or display.

As it should be.

I see your dilemma though but I'm sure they'll sell the physical version without the amiibo before the year's end.

I'm doing the same thing. It's called a limited edition. So it's gonna eventually be removed. I don't want the Amiibo. Nor do I want to go through the hassle of selling it. I just want the $10 off.

Doesn't personally bother me much. The game is still there as it was played before, the additional dungeon + amiibo is just some additional DLC if you're so inclined to want it. I think it'd be BS if they locked some older dungeons from the original away behind amiibo, but since it's new I'm feeling a big "meh" about the whole thing.
