Quite interesting that SFIV sold reasonably well but not amazingly. If SFV can get close to 1 million by week 10 it won't be that far behind.. When's the free DLC coming out that will make this game an actual full game worth buying? That was really a major screw up on the part of Capcom. Sony should really ask for some money back for that sort of dicking around.

You assume Sony wasn't aware of how Capcom was handling this game.

I assume SFV will be ahead in the long run as well. SFV is available to a larger audience being a big reason and continued support. I also predict Capcom will do rereleases in hopes of stimulating sales (SFV: No Grinding Editon).

I'm not showing which was hurt more. But I think the TR IP is in a better position because its coming to PS4. SFV could certainly benefit from the Xbox audience but its not gonna happen.

TR coming to PS4 is a much larger benefit compared to sfv coming to Xbox One. Street fighter to my knowledge just never really had a prominent Xbox presence as opposed to TR on PlayStation

Am I arguing which is the bigger benefit? No.

Are you unaware how popular SF was on Xbox? Yes.

I immediately thought that as well.

Sales for Street Fighter will remain steady, especially once content starts coming out.

I do believe it as well.. and they may decide to instead of sell only vanilla and you download the DLC keep making the anual/bianual release of the new print. It may keep a steady growth, I now one time or another I'll end up buying it.

If you want to do that you should do a SFIV all platforms vs SFV comparison all platforms. Only problem is SFIV was a full game at release, and part of what's hurting SFV sales is that it is only 2/3 of a game. So it's hard to really compare what the exclusivitiy has done to sales compared to the brain explosion Capcom had in thinking it was better to release the game in parts rather than delay the launch. I hope Sony wasn't so stupid as to agree that releasing in parts, but on time, was a better idea than delaying.

I don't really want to do it. I'm only talking about what I perceived OP intention to be. And yes we could compare/align SF IV PS3 to SF V PS4 versus TR X1 vs RTOR X1. And also the total drop from all platforms to the exclusiviness, but all of that will make sense only after 4 months or even years ahead.

I believe continued support will be a bigger reason since we often see that for stablished franchises userbase have a small effect. I don't think TR will gain as much coming to PS4 compared if it was release on it together, and certainly this loss was a lot bigger than SF V not showing on X1... their biggest issue is what they released not on excluding a market from it.

The greatest sales potential for RotTR is launching at the same time on multiple platforms. But, its still going to get a lot of sales on PS4 by coming eventually. Maybe it will sell millions on PS4 and that's gonna help TR3 succeed.

MKX on X1 had a bigger opening than SFV so maybe you're downplaying how significant the X1 market is.

I may be upplaying how bad was the mistakes of Capcom?

Well since I like both games I'll cheer that both have good sales... I won't buy RTOR on launch on PS4, but I'll end up buying

Its difficult to gauge if going exclusive was a mistake. Primarily because we dont know how much money changed hands for exclusivity.

However, I think timed exclusivity is usually the best route for an IP. Because they can still build a fanbase on a platform even if a game is late. Which helps the next game succeed.

Is this based on VGCHARTZ data? Cuz NPD already disproved your week 1 sales for RoTR

Probably Street Fighter V. I can see it becoming a decent/good seller in the long run. Street Fighter always had legs.
