Street Fighter was and is a multiplatform game since the age of 16 bit (and even 8 bit). So it was basically present in every gen. This is what to me counts more into being famous instead of just sales. |
Tekken might have sold more... but its safe to presume on average people are more aware of SF.
In recent years, the SF IP sold more units than Tekken games. But Tekken 7 could do better than SFV as a multiplat.

Quite interesting that SFIV sold reasonably well but not amazingly. If SFV can get close to 1 million by week 10 it won't be that far behind.. When's the free DLC coming out that will make this game an actual full game worth buying? That was really a major screw up on the part of Capcom. Sony should really ask for some money back for that sort of dicking around.

I immediately thought that as well.
Sales for Street Fighter will remain steady, especially once content starts coming out.

If you want to do that you should do a SFIV all platforms vs SFV comparison all platforms. Only problem is SFIV was a full game at release, and part of what's hurting SFV sales is that it is only 2/3 of a game. So it's hard to really compare what the exclusivitiy has done to sales compared to the brain explosion Capcom had in thinking it was better to release the game in parts rather than delay the launch. I hope Sony wasn't so stupid as to agree that releasing in parts, but on time, was a better idea than delaying.
