Forums - Sales Discussion - First 10 Weeks Sales: SFV (PS4) -VS- ROTTR (X1) - VGC Data

Choose wisely!

Street Fighter V (PS4) 145 43.15%

Rise of the Tomb Raider (X1) 191 56.85%

Total:336

It's a tough one. One game was released over the holiday period with great reviews and was put into B1G1F and discounted deals within its first 10 weeks of release.

The other has come out with mixed reviews and very little advertising but has the whole Evo thing behind it, but most likely will stay at full price for a while.

I think ROtTR will take the first 10 weeks, but SFV will win lifetime sales. Weren't there articles saying it has sold pretty poorly everywhere 2nd week?

One game was released with huge outrage on forums on a platform that is clearly second and has the "bad" image this gen.

The other came out on a platform which is "team win" this gen and is a "true" console exclusive and the game is the most famous fighter in fighting game history.

I could... but I'd prefer if you just look at the sales on the site and come back.

Week 2 for US is 34K. Rest of the world isn't up. A far cry from SFIV's Week 2 on PS3.

Yeah, no thanks. Don't make a thread asking for a discussion and then refuse to provide the data for said discussion.

He didn't. He provided the data for the Global Sales which is what the discussion and topic are about, not just the US sales. The US sales comment was just an observation.

I guess the most famous fighting game title in history now belongs to Smash!

LOL@ only counting the Us. Globally SF is already better.

It's a fair match-up, either way, as both franchises have sold relatively similar in the past.

And both are way past there prime in the 90's both can die and no one would care.

It shows what mixed reviews and negative word of mouth can achieve. Besides, just because you are on team win doesn't mean everyone on team win will go out and buy the game. People on team win still are pissed of about the lack of day one content at full price. ROtTR didn't give consumers on Xbox a reason not to buy or to hold of.

Why would you pit these two against each other? Whats the thought process here cause I'm seeing no correlation between SFV on the PS4, a fighting game that was released bare bones on purpose and ROTR on X1, a rip off off Uncharted, a rip off of Lara croft tomb raiding glory days, that aside ROTR is a rich, semi open world adventure which got a shitty release date. Just...why? You're better than this Puggsly.

1. They are both big name returning franchises that have had great success.

2.Most people are considering these to have very poor sales or bombed.

3. There both money hatted games that were payed for exclusivity and look to be paying the price with low sales.

But Team win has way more potential customers, almost twice as much. And there were a lot of people who didn't welcome the moneyhat from MS. Whether that is a reason to not buy a game we will never know.
