In spite of Fallout 4, RotTR is doing comprable to its predecessor on 360, so it didnt die in my eyes. We arent even including the additional 360 sales of RotTR.

I assume SFV is gonna get a push this holiday to help compensate for the weak legs thus far, but it has little hope of selling as well as its predecessor on PS3 alone.

It is obvious to note that the last Tomb  Raider had really good legs. Considering SE said the sales were below expectations, then later said the sales were good.

@bold I am not sure how many people rebuy these games but Tomb Raider was also sold on Xbox One a year later.

So 360+ XB1 Tomb Raider (2013, 2014) vs 360+XB1 ROTR (2015).

SF V (PS4) will beat ROTR (xbox1/360) in term of sale, but it will be a other story this christmas went finally ROTR release on PS4. Mark my word.

The internet confused below expectations as failure. In reality, it just made less money than hoped. They even said it broke even the same year it released.

According to VGChartz RotTR is ahead of the original, Roughly 1.3 vs 1.5. http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/game_comparison.php?reg=Global&ending=Cumulative&game[]=Rise+of+the+Tomb+Raider+%28XOne%29+[82908]&game[]=Rise+of+the+Tomb+Raider+%28X360%29+[84683]&game[]=Tomb+Raider%3A+Definitive+Edition+%28XOne%29+[78260]&game[]=Tomb+Raider+%28X360%29+[70429]

Also, digital sales for RotTR are likely higher.

I agree but its likely that tomb raider for XB1 and PS4 is undertracked since it charted in NPD with only  5 days of tracking. Most January games that chart in NPD sell 100-150k+.  Vgchartz gives it 60k. Then February sales will  be a little bit more significant.

For example The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds sold ~140k that month Physical+digital did not chart, and not much would be digital.

I think sf5 would have sold much better if it was released at the end of year like tomb raider. Sf4 vs tomb was better cause they release around the same time of year. Much better comparison

Yes, because TR was released with a huge marketing campaign, bells and whistles and didn't have any competition alongside its release while SF5 got a release in rather quiet months which is a huge disadvantage because games don't sell in these months - ask MS, they know what this is about.

Well I don't wanna bother going into those numbers any further. But I stand by what I said, its selling comprable to its predecessor and digital sales are more relevant today.

We can't say the same for SFV, not even close.

Rise of The Tomb Raider came out at Christmas, that's a big advantage over SF5

PS4 has a huge userbase advantage. Not every game succeeds during the holiday and numerous titles have done well near SFV's release window like Far Cry: Primal, The Divison, UFC 2, etc.

What SFV really had going against it was Capcom milked Street Fighter last gen and bad word of mouth for releasing an incomplete game.

As I've pointed out before Mortal Kombat X has done better on both PS4 and X1 in less time, not a holiday release either. So clearly people are just not interested in SFV for some reason.
