Wow, didn't know it was this behind of GameCube. Looks like Wii U will end up selling around 15m... to think when it launched I expected it to sell around 50m (and some friends thought I was crazy).

You did not know? It does not help that they seem to be ending it in Japan or something.

No, I didn't. I knew it was lagging behind with sales aligned, but not this much. Looks like GameCube had a terrible 5h year, maybe that explains part of it.

And yeah, the Japan thing is really unfortunate.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

It's just stock issues, no? I don't think they're actually ending it yet.

There is a new rumour, which claims that nintendo is restricting wii u supply, to avoid unsold inventory... Some people have the tendency to take rumors as facts.

Personally, I was always thinking that they don't replenish the shelves with wii u units sufficiently on purpose, but because they want to move the demand to pokken tournament wii u bundle which arrives on the 18th of March, anywise stock problems are expected...

Sales in Japan exceeded in a great extend Nintendo's expectations, due to splatoon and super mario maker, which caused a relatively outstanding holiday perfomance, similar to 2013 which was wii u best year, when it had killer deals/offers, and outdid 2014 by approximately double numbers, that with the pricey splatoon and super mario maker bundles. So manufactured wii u stock was nearly depleted, something that Nintendo wasn't anticipating...

Probably, Nintendo was considering that what they sold in a year, it would be sold between two years.

Ugh, sad. I really think it deserved to sell more than the GameCube, but I am only one person.

I thought 30 million was the minimum Wii U would get. I thought for sure that Nintendo would retain more of its Wii U user base, but unfortunately it went the other way and they even managed to lose some of the GC user base.

The question is, what's NX going to do to attract more of the gamer audience.

Unfortunate, hopefully Nintendo is able to fix the problems with the Wii U..

I can't believe that back in 2012/2013 I used to think that the Wii U would sell like 50 million...and in the end it couldn't even get close to the Gamecube...
I really hope the NX doesn't flop.

I think it'd be nice to see a 3DS/GBA comparison.

Wii U sold almost 50% less than GC in same time.

Nintendo has so many mistakes and bad decisions with Wii U that never had a chance despite ended with great games.

Double post.

Meh price cut wii u and sales would pick up. Try and recoup lost hardware sales on increased softare sales.

As usual, the least popular console becomes my favorite. I have enjoyed Wii-U more than Xbox One and PS4 combined.
