Forums - Nintendo Discussion - TPHD is here! What do you think?

10 long years have not dimmed this game's greatness.

It's still the most epic and evocative Zelda since Ocarina of Time, taking pretty much everything that made the 1998 classic so timeless and elevating it to the next level. The dungeons are absolutely masterful, the tone strikes a near perfect balance between dramatic and light-heartedly quirky, and Midna is still the franchises's best companion; her interactions are entertaining and never annoying, and her unpredictable yet adorably impish nature make her immensely likeable.

About the only complaint I have is the game's rather slow beginning. Other than that, it's pretty much a masterpiece.

...And that's playing the Wii version. :P I don't own it on Wii U, but I imagine the added features and sharper graphics don't exactly hurt it.

Honestly I think it looked much better on Dolphin...That is pretty sad since this could have been a great port if it had gotten the same effort that WWHD received.

People will try to tell you it got just as much of an upgrade as WWHD, but that's false, WWHD got a massive lighting and shader overhaul that TPHD didn't.

And TPHD had a texture rework on a level that is not even comparable with WWHD, because is miles better.

WWHD still got a texture rework, but it also got a massive new set of effects like HDR, global illumination, ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, per-pixel lighting, dynamic shadows. That's much more significant than just a texture/resolution bump and extremely minor tweaks to shadows and bloom.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone claiming that, I mean its completely clear which is the better port.

Just wait, there are those who'll actually try to say it got just as much of a graphical overhaul.

Can't believe it's full price...I'm pretty sure even WWHD was $10 off full retail and that seemed like a much bigger overhaul.
