Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So I just played and finished Ocarina of Time for the first time!

It was a good one, that's for sure. I think I liked Wind Waker a bit more, which lands me squarely in the lap of the minority.

Definitely one of my all time favorites. When I beat OOT the first time, I felt hollow and sad, because the journey was over.

I still feel sad everytime I finish the game

I haven't had the heart to beat it full through again, the post-game trauma was too much to bear another time.

The only other game I ever played that I was locked into the story was Bioshock Infinite. If you like a good story, its worth playing through. The ending is trippy and weird, be warned.

Never made it out of the water temple.

I just did, and I only looked at a guide like...5 times.

I'll never understand the problems people apparently have (or had and will have) with the Water Temple.

Strangely I had no trouble when it came to the Water Temple and didn't have to look anything up, a few of the other dungeons were more difficult for me such as Jabu Jabu's fat ass.

Though I've heard the Water Temple is much harder in the original N64 version.

Yup, I'll start playing Majora's Mask next, then Link Between Worlds, then I'll go onto Windwaker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. That'll take me age though.

Nice. Hope you enjoy them as much as you did OoT!

The Water Temple on the N64 is basically the same, the 3DS version is made "easier" due to the color codes they applied to the doorways towards the places where the water level can be changed. Originally, there were no such indicators, so it was easier to get lost. Also, due to the touchscreen, the Iron Boots can now be equiped and unequiped and used as a real item on the fly, while originally they had to be selected in the Equipment menu every time, which could get tedious.

I think it was just the amount of keys really, and that one or two of them are locked up somewhere really obscure.

Jabu-Jabu was hard too, but I think I managed that without a guide.

You lucky bastard!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Far from a perfect game IMO, but it's a classic that everyone should definitely try out.

Congrats on finishing it!

Boots on, boots off. Boots on, boots off. Boots on, boots off arghhhhh fuck you water temple! Yep that was an annoying dungeon. So glad they made it easier to switch boots on the 3ds version
