Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo intentionally locking content to NEW 3ds

Actually, SNES emulation isn't possible on the old 3DS. It is possible on the new 3DS.

If GBA emulation is possible on 3DS SNES emulation should be possible as well. I have a SNES emulator running quite well on O3DS. There's no reason why the O3DS shouldn't be able to handle SNES games. Some games use scaling and zooming and things of that sort but if hackers can get SNES emulators to work on O3DS then so should Nintendo.

Nintendo wants the original 3DS owner to buy a New 3DS because Nintendo wants to make as much money as possible with the 3DS. They don't care about their original fans imo.

They want more people to get the n3DS

Barkley, Nintendo is a business. They want to sell new 3DS'. Therefore they need to give consumers a reason to upgrade. This is a good way to do it because its not holding anything from regular 3DS owners of great value.

Agreed. 20 year old games will sell new hardware.

They need something exclusive to the New 3DS other than xenoblade so this works (sucks for us regular 3DS/2DS peasants)

Well they are getting the highly anticipated Federation ForHAHAHAHAAA....couldnt even finish that one...

we don't know everything, just because the ambassador played snes games.
those gba games lacked a sleep mode and save states, so for all we know the original couldn't handle it or there were complications with the emulation with what it had vs the N3ds.

No, but it adds value to the purchase. No one thing makes you buy new hardware. Its the complete package.

N3DS seems to have been a cynical cash grab from day 1. Unless you really needed the better 3D.

To put an exclusive feature into it what looks like mere months before Nintendo abandon it to the abyss doors nothing to change that impression.

Especially as there has been perfect SNES emulation possible on several handhelds released in the past. Just shows how cripplingly underpowered the 3DS platform has been from day 1. I hope the NX really fixes that as its likely to be the only dedicated gaming portable in a couple of years.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I've got my WiiU to keep me covered with SNES vrtual console, so at this point I'm just leaning back and waiting for NX. I'm not upgrading to New3ds that's for sure.
I just really hope NX and the new Nintendo Account finally impliment crossbuy/save because I'm getting pissed off at how fragmented my VC library is between devices.

I get why this would piss regular 3ds only users off, but on the other hand it's just snes games. It's not like Pokemon Sun/Moon are N3ds exclusive or something.
