Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Funding Beyond Good And Evil 2 (RUMOUR)

Hmm look forward to the internet shitstorm if true. Maybe this means Bayonetta sold enough to break even at least if nintendos doing it again.
Also reminds me that I really need to play beyond good and evil. It's been In backlog purgatory for a while now...

That would be cool if true. I haven't played the 1st one, but I heard it was really great. So I would give it a shot if true.

I seriously hope this is true, though. This is an extremely good exclusive to secure for many reasons, the biggest of which being that it's a western AAA game. That is a huge indication of how Nintendo intends to brand this platform, and that is a very good thing.

This is exactly the kind of exclusive I've been saying Nintendo needed to get in the early years of the NX while they started building their own western studios. If E3 hit's, and they show off this as well as revealing that Retro's new game is also a western-style AAA game, my only reservation on the potential success will be alleviated, and that will be such a relief.

The original may not have sold well, but this game has a much better chance of doing well, especially because of how good it looked graphically last time it was seen.

Yeah, it's a fantastic idea and I... buy it. Now that I'm thinking about it it makes a lot of sense. For example, the fact that this game was announced like 8 years ago and we have no words about it. I'm sure Ubisoft didn't want to fund the game because they didn't think it was worthy. So Nintendo rescuing that game is a great idea, and a great opportunity to prove they're willing to support also western AAA games if they think they're worth the effort.

This would be pretty cool, but I highly doubt it.

These rumours have been off the wall recently.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

And Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development's hell. It was announced in 2008, 6 years ago!

Might want to check your arithmetic, there...

That's what happens when I don't sleep enough.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I like the sound of this. Nintendo should fund more games. When they do so all of the die hard fans buy Nintendo consoles to play it anf it is a good sales strategy as well.

It's not about them thinking it's worth it. It's about them cultivating the ecosystem in which these types of games are expected to appear. Right now, the expectation is that you buy Nintendo systems to buy Nintendo games and weird japanese titles. Doing what I suggest changes that expectation to Nintendo games and big, western AAA games, which is actually marketable here. Nintendo isn't at a point where they are at liberty to decide what's "worth the effort."

Someone buying B&G2 is far more likely to buy AssCreed than someone buying Mario. Someone buying B&G2 is far more likely to buy COD than someone buying Donkey Kong. That's why this shit is important.

Yeah, you're right. I was talking profit-wise about Ubisoft, for Nintendo the game is worth the effort for several reasons. Not just profits. But growing a diverse catalogue on the NX is very, very important to them if they want to suceed.

The weird thing about this is that I actually talk about this with a friend of mine before this rumour even exists. BG&D is a critical acclaimed game, with its popularity growing since it was released. It's Nintendo-friendly, it's a Western AAA game, so it can attract people outside Nintendo ecosystem... Why not funding it? I really think it's a logical and great move, so that's why I think the rumour can be true.

If this is true, I hope a PC version still exists
