Forums - Gaming Discussion - Quantum Break’s PC version will need an internet connection to see in-game videos

Microsoft is pushing to bring more Xbox exclusive game to Windows. While that initially seemed like a good thing, there are a host of good reasons why you don't want to go out and buy the latest title on the Windows Store. And now it seems like the Windows version of Quantum Break will need an open internet connection, in order to get all of the content.

Plenty of games need an internet connection to function. Multiplayer games are obviously going to need to be online, but what about single-player experiences? Why should they need to connect to anything? In Quantum Break's case, it really doesn't make much sense at all.

During the game, you'll see live-action episodes of an in-game TV show. Depending on what path you take to progress through the game, the videos you see will change. That's a pretty neat feature, and not unlike things we've seen in other games from Remedy. However, if you're playing the game on your PC, you'll need to connect to the internet, in order to stream these videos into your game.

Note that I said "on your PC." If you're playing the game on your Xbox One, you'll be able to download all of the videos to your hard drive, and have them play off of there. This option does not currently exist for the Windows 10 version of the game. And we're not really sure why. My guess is that this is yet another limitation of the Windows Store holding back PC gaming.

Microsoft hasn't changed from the drm fiasco of the xbox one reveal just tryed to hide itself as something else.

Around the Network

I dont really know how the game works but what if I dont want to watch the show and just want to play the game?

Oh, my...

So not only is the game Windows Store only (so MSoft can use whatever DRM measures have on their store on top of what's already in Win10), but they are so suspicious that also make the game always online? Ridiculous.

And not alowing to download the TV episodes, unlike the X1 version, is kind of like the icing on the cake.

My hype for this game is dwindling .

Please excuse my bad English.
