Forums - Gaming Discussion - Opinion: Killzone 2 > Killzone: Shadowfall

I like the variety in KZ SF. KZ2 had great levels too yet started to feel a bit samey throughout.
KZ SF had gritty, moody, bright, dark, shiny, space, indoor, outdoor environments. It's an extremely versatile engine, I prefer replaying SF over KZ2. I've replayed KZ2 as well, yet only the first bit and the outdoor desert level hold my interest. KZ3 ice level is also a big favorite.

Shadow Fall was a failed attempt at making Killzone more like CoD. That's why it was so bad, hopefully they go back to the way 2 and 3 were since they were my favorite fps of last gen.(at least 2 was :p) So yea I agree with you, preferred the gritty look of those games.

No, it doesn't feel like CoD. I just played through the game this month. The first four level are good. After that the level design just gets boring, stealth stuff sucks, waves of enemies, too much trial and error.

I played through the PS3 games as well, I thought they were better overall but not great either.

Well it felt like Cod to me. They tried to go with cinematic moments in the story and had cliche characters that acted cool, but we're really not. Also as you said they tried way too many different things that didn't work...sounds a lot like CoD Ghosts to me.

Personally i consider KZ2 to be the greatest online shooter i've ever played. 3 and SF were a let down.

Well a lot of games push cinematics, frankly its nothing unusual for a Sony game.

Did you play through CoD: Ghosts? I really enjoyed that game, atleast the second half. It felt like other CoD Games to me.

I don't feel anybody "acted cool" in either Killzone:SF or Ghosts. Ghosts had a less convoluted story by the way.

Killzone 2 is way better, but the war between Vekta and Helghast is based on a future cold war in Killzone SF. While Killzone 2 is based on a future world war 2 kind of war. The contrast between Helghan and Vekta is one of the best thing about the game. It us a shame though that after the fourth level the game feels rushed.

The story if SF is awful compared to Killzone 2 which was for it's time a more impressive game than SF. The story of KZ 2 and the cliffhanger at the end where also way better as was the feel of the guns, the sound, the missions and everything really. Killzone 2 was unique because of the above, SF had the drone play but it made so many mistakes, it wasn't great barely above mediocre really. But the Vecta levels where a nice TECH demo so it did it's job.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Killzone 2 was the best and it went downhill from there. The amount of destructorbility, the gas cannisters, how they would set alight before eventually flying off and exploding, the atmospheric lighting and the amazing level design.

3 had its moments but it was cut short due to wanting to push 3D and SF was poop for many reasons.

Mercenary was up there IMO. I was so hyped for Shadow fall based on the direction mercenary went in and expected shadow fall to be going that way too.

I do love the ps3 games though, some of my favourite fps games of all time.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I agree 100% :)

I agree shadowfall was the worst killzone game since the original. Killzone 3 was my favorite, at times u can see that shadowfall started out as a ps3 game. The water effects looks like trash. very disappointed with the game

Really peed of I didn't get to play mercenary. Bought it at launch. On the same day my Vita got stolen from my laptop bag in the London underground -_-

Really? Ghosts was the only CoD game I sold almost immediately after passing the campaign, my least favorite really(played all from mw to bo3).

The ending really pissed me off since it was such a sudden twist that didn't make much sense to begin with and that cliffhanger.

Fair enough about the cool character thing, I was thinking about Echo. But it's been a few years since I played through Shadow Fall so I wasn't completely sure about that point.

It's cool if you like Ghosts though, I respect your opinion after all. We seem to have slightly different tastes is all xD
