Today, someone came up to me and asked why I hate conservatives so much. I explained to them that the only Conservatives I hate are the extremely-right ones that are addicted to the Bible and prefer the past over modern advancement. Then again, I hate extremely left liberals as well. 

As I was talking to the person, I began to wonder- am I the only one with such a mindset? Or do others hate the far right/left as well? I'd love to hear different opinions concerning the topic

Probably every single person ever thinks their personal world view is "normal". People you would identify as far left/right/whatever think they have average/moderate views, and that the average person agrees with them.

If you asked someone why they're far right, they'd say they're normal and you're far left.

If you asked someone why they're far left, they'd say they're normal and you're far right.

Basically, your extremism is someone else's baseline.

But basically I agree with you- to quote Scott Adams, most (if not all) issues are not black and white. I have a strong distrust of anyone who has a strong opinion on anything.

Any extreme is bad but, at the same time, I would rather surround myself with a bunch of smelly, hairy hippes than a bunch of loud, angry, evangelical racists.

I tend to think of it like a circle with the starting point being middle top, so from there you have as they get more extreme both moving away from the centre , in the direction their names imply until they reach a point where they come together.
By then it's a case of two crazy ideologies that have strayed so far from the ideals of either side and are so far out of touch from that starting point that the only way they can be effective is through fear , hate and propaganda.

Not a fan of either; which makes it a bit of a bother to live in a country that is extremely polarized.

At least America has a good amount of moderates. Europe is slowly gaining more and more far lefties. Censorship and Political Correctness is haunting the European countries

As said, any extreme is bad, but the far right is very scary to me. I just can't understand the amount of intolerance a person can have and how they see it as "normal".

I come from Norway but I live in Sweden. The debate climate is unforgiving and lacks any kind of nuance. A friend of mine said the other day at work; "So, I walk into the paint store to get some colors for my new appartment, the clerk asks me; "Do you want black or white?"
