Forums - Sony Discussion - Dark Cloud 2: Perfect Example of Poor Emulation

Okay, I've been on this site off and on for years, but I've never actually posted anything in a forum before. I just ran into something that was SO infuriating, I had to vent somewhere.

On PSN, I'm sure you are all aware that you can download a handful of classic PS2 games. I am TOTALLY for this. I love playing some of these games again, because I don't have a PS2 anymore and sold most of my games years ago. Plus the trophy support is a huge plus.

Anywho, I've been playing Dark Cloud 2. Used to love it. The emulation is a bit poor, and it's obvious, but I can see past that. It's a 13 year old game, I accept it. But they created a shortcut that enables you to swap characters by clicking L3. BY CLICKING L3. Do you have any idea how easy it is do to that, on accident, like all the fucking time?! It is driving me insane. I want to keep playing, but it happens at the most inopportune times, and there is no way to turn the short cut off. I am not even through Sindain yet and I kind of feel like giving up on the nostalgia train. Did this short cut exist in the original game? If so, I don't recall it being nearly this big of an issue.

Clicking L3 by accident isn't that easy, at least I never do it.

But if it's a problem for you you can change the controls in the PlayStation OS and set l3 to a different button.

My exact thought. How in the world would you accidently click L3 so frequently that it is becoming a major issue

You sure this wasnt in the original game? i doubt they put the afford changing the core game

If there's a button I've never pressed by accident, that's definitively L3. Because whenever I have to, it feels so weak I genuinely feel my DS4 controller is going to break.

Anyway, I thought we were here to discuss the emulation, not a questionable choice of button mapping!

It was the same for the original game. I'm playing it right now and I have no issue with clicking L3 or R3 by accident. But I would have preferred if they added something like a wheel where you could switch on the fly every character, Instead of clicking L3 and R3 several times. I think you can change the button setup on the OS menu anyway (you could choose R2 and L2 since they don't have a great importance during the game).

Sounds like a case of the clumsy thumbs. I have never encountered this problem nor have I ever heard of a problem like this. Sounds like a weird way to just complain.

I've never clicked L3 by accident.

Right! I especially hate it when games have you press L3 to run - you get used to it, but man, it doesn't feel good until you do.
