Forums - Sony Discussion - Kojima: Sony Supporting Us To Make A Big, Edgy Game With Strong Story

I don't have doubts, I'm just saying it's highly unlikely your claim about it being the best selling Kojima game due to this controversy, the controversy alone won't make up for it, that's my point, the power to sell a Kojima game is the quality of his work, not controversies.

If it's not on par with expectations it won't sell that high despite the controversy, and if it's great as usual it'll sell great as usual, Kojima work is well above anything like controversies, that is what will matter in his next game outcome.

Oh, ok. See I wasn't even including the quality as a factor since I thought it was a given.
I'm basically saying that given his quality along with this controversy, it's going to be huge.

Of course, a lot of that plays along with the subject-nature. So we'll see. I do believe that this controversy will follow until release though. I can't imagine headlines not leading with "Kojima's first independant game is.....X, here's the review". They'll harp about it because they know drama sells.

I've always seen Sony as one that actually tries to push games as a art medium forward. Whereas all the other publishers are too concerned with xx% profits and getting games out with minimal effort.

they seem to support creativity.  I mean last gen we had Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Beyond, Puppeteer, LBP, Resistance, and how many other new IPs from them?  Then this gen we've already had The Order, Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Resogun, and many more Sony published new IP.  They kinda seem to have the attitude "you're a competent developer.  Want to make us an exclusive game?  Here's some money make what you want as long as it's for us" and it works really well as I'm attracted to their variety and creativity in their first party.  They also seem to support many SP focused games which I like as a guy who doesn't really get into competitive stuff.  Games like Fire Watch and The Order I really enjoy as I'm a cinephile and enjoy he cinematic elements.
