Devil’s Third is a 5.9 ONLY because of the multiplayer. Without the multiplayer, I would have gone with like a 3 range.

i think so too. overall 4,0 for me. its a really bad game in my opinion, i play only 3 hours and it was so boring -.-

ps: i hope, you buy and play the jrpg-masterpiece Persona 5 this year ( : good review.

So, you are blaming the game for you not being able to just wield your melee weapon... when there are several enemies with fucking guns in different places... at several tens of meters from you... In a FPS with some TPA mechanics to support the FPS mechanics (Itakagi confirmed this plenty of times).

...I see something absolutely wrong with your statement.

I agree with you that the game being too linear, in the online features and in the technical aspects. Aside from that, I completely disagree with you.

The game is difficult. That's it. Is not unfair, is not terribly designed... is difficult. There's only one time I really felt that I was playing something actually impossible (some place with snow and tons of heavy guys with miniguns). Aside from that, it was a challenging game, I died a lot of times, but all of them were my fault in some way.

The bosses are meant to be a one on one duel. They want you to use mainly your melee weapon. But even with this, your fire weapon still can make the difference. It does not make as much damage as it does against normal enemies, but if you use it when the boss is stunned or when your are on its back, you still can do some damage to it without getting yourself too close to him and putting yourself in danger. Of course, bosses have some distance attacks that will prevent you from overdoing this. But that's the thing: you must find the balance between hand to hand and distance combat. As for the on hit kill... if I recall right, almost all of them do not kill you instantly, but letting you with 1 hp. Also, I think they have a visual effect that allows you trying to dodge them. That's not unfair to me: just try to evade it, and if you can't. run and doge till you've recovered your health. Sure, sometimes you'll die trying to escape because of a bad doging... but that's a small mistake on our part, not on the game design.

As for the stoy, if you haven't understand that Ivan is in jail for terrorism (he was part of the terrorist gang that are now the leaders of SOD) and that he was caught because he regretted some things he did and he surrendered to authorities... then you pretty much have no right in calling the storyline weak. It's not a masterpiece, but neither a piece of shit. Is just as good as it need to make the campaing progress without being too silly.

I've heard many say is suppose to work both ways. A shooter or a melee. So that's why I said it fails in that respect. In no way did I say the combat bis bad or shitty. I said it's solid.

Everyone had there own opinion on what makes a game good and what makes designs of games bad. I clearly have some here who think the on slot of enemies is a better design. While others think that the way it's taken in this game was not the best choice. In no way does my taste make me more or less wrong than your taste.

What separates difficult and fun can be a hard line to Master and I thought the enemy balance took that fun out of it. As I said, the game was decent the first half or so. But they took to the idea that the more enemies the better. With out complex levels and open areas.

And I heard Itagaki saying in several ocasions that the game is a shooter with some hand to hand combat mechanics that support the shooter part. Is not meant to be played either with one or the other: you're meant to play it as a shooter, (an FPS to be precise) but using the HTH combat whenever is necesary. Is not an opinion, is what the developer say it is. And if you notice, there is not a deep combo system for the weapons, not an elaborated combat mechanic. You hit, you dodge, you guard. If they wanted to make the game work in both ways in any situation, they would have made the close combat mechanics different and more complex. They didn't because they wanted to make a shooter. A different shooter. And in that regard, they succeded.

I didn't said that you said (redundancy ftw xDDD) that the combat was shitty. I just said that you're looking at the game genre and mechanics from a wrong point of view. It's a FPS with TPA mechanics that support the first. You're right, we can debate if it's a good or a bad game, if it's unfair, if the story is lacking, if it's level design is not well made... all of that is, at the end of the day, a matter of tastes. But if the game is a shooter, is a shooter.

Been a member/lurker here a long time.  I am long time, very experienced gamer.  I bought this game to add to my WiiU collection as a novelty at first.  In fact, I didn't even open it for two weeks.  I finally opened it to play at a friend's place while having a game night.  We had a blast with it!  The gameplay is very "crisp".  Very responsive.  The boss fights were fun.  We only died a few times... To the point where we got antsy for the other to pass the controller.  The graphics?  I may be delusional... I'm not spoiled considering I am still impressed by PS2/GameCube/Xbox graphics, but I didn't find any fault barring the occasional slowdown in some areas... By no means did it detract from my enjoyment.  This game is just fun.  And I'm speaking only of single player campaign... I haven't tried online yet.  Very underrated in my personal opinion.  If you love hack n slash and gunplay this game marries both well.  It doesn't get boring.  I would give this game an 8/10 for it's enjoyment.  One of my favorite games this gen.  I know I'm in the minority.  I've played alot of games.  Lately I find myself hard pressed to finish most.  I can't stop with this one.  It's too fun.  Between this and Rocket League I'm turning my game systems on more than usual.  Regardless, to those who love pure gameplay and pure fun, I recommend it.  My friend and I haven't bonded on such a game in years... Since Resident Evil 4 in fact.  My friend is an avid Destiny and GTAV plater and he is texting me right now that he wants me to come by to finish Devil's Third because it's all he can think about.  Take that as you will, but this game is better than you think, and in many ways purer than what's out there.

cool.  the game was meant to be fun and normally the graphics and other would follow.  It might not be those AAA games which the common gamers would like.  there are a few flaws but i can see flaws in other big budgeted games as well.

glad you like Devil's Third.
