Forums - Nintendo Discussion - cycycychris reviews Devil's Third

game is terrible. See no reason why everyone wanted the physical copy for Wii U.

I'd rather play Castle Crashers.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I'm still planning to get this at some point.

Everyone wanted a physical copy because it was rare. Or before that, because most people who use consoles prefer physical to digital, regardless of quality of the game, whether they know about that factor or not.

bet: lost

I love this game because of multiplayer online, gave it an "Okay", so, yeah.. Single player is ehhhhhh...

Good review.

Good to hear at least the online is good and enjoyable, I don't see it having a long life tho. Nice review btw

Never was interested in this game, but now I'm considering getting it someday solely because of sheer curiousity.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Been a member/lurker here a long time.  I am long time, very experienced gamer.  I bought this game to add to my WiiU collection as a novelty at first.  In fact, I didn't even open it for two weeks.  I finally opened it to play at a friend's place while having a game night.  We had a blast with it!  The gameplay is very "crisp".  Very responsive.  The boss fights were fun.  We only died a few times... To the point where we got antsy for the other to pass the controller.  The graphics?  I may be delusional... I'm not spoiled considering I am still impressed by PS2/GameCube/Xbox graphics, but I didn't find any fault barring the occasional slowdown in some areas... By no means did it detract from my enjoyment.  This game is just fun.  And I'm speaking only of single player campaign... I haven't tried online yet.  Very underrated in my personal opinion.  If you love hack n slash and gunplay this game marries both well.  It doesn't get boring.  I would give this game an 8/10 for it's enjoyment.  One of my favorite games this gen.  I know I'm in the minority.  I've played alot of games.  Lately I find myself hard pressed to finish most.  I can't stop with this one.  It's too fun.  Between this and Rocket League I'm turning my game systems on more than usual.  Regardless, to those who love pure gameplay and pure fun, I recommend it.  My friend and I haven't bonded on such a game in years... Since Resident Evil 4 in fact.  My friend is an avid Destiny and GTAV plater and he is texting me right now that he wants me to come by to finish Devil's Third because it's all he can think about.  Take that as you will, but this game is better than you think, and in many ways purer than what's out there.

>Then right after that they stick 5 at the edge of the next corner that will blow you to pieces. Which reminds me, you will die, A LOT! There just such an imbalance of enemies.
All I can say: git gud. Enemy placement is brilliant on the most of the levels. It really give me Resident Evil 4 vibes from game-design point. End of 7th chapter is all about your skill.
Bosses telegraphs their "one shot kill" moves, I see no problems here.
Story is actually good, it hase some interesting plot twists. Setting is kinda unique for modern shooters. You can notice small things here and there if you read all the documents and carefully explore the areas.

@cycycychris: I really like that you check this game from every point of view, unlike most reviewers who seem to just bash it for it's graphics and don't even play it beyond the second level. Our oppinions might differ at various points in your review, but I'm not complaining, I appreciate your honest thoughts about it. My impressions about DT lean towards what SidOfBee said for the most part, but to each his own, I guess.

But I was wondering one thing. You mentioned one specific area towards the end of the game where you got frustrated over the bad enemy placing and not enough ammo. Could it happen to be this street? (that's my own miiverse screenshot)

I know I got really pissed here. This street had everything: invisible ninjas, flamethrowers, snipers, grenades, rocket launchers, shield protected machine gunners... you name it. And on top of that, because it ain't hard enough yet, you get some heavy a$$ chainsawers, axe wielders and four (!) heavy armored minigunners.
