Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why is Microsoft so bad at making interfaces?

I like Windows 10 and Xbox One's interfaces.

The reason i haven't upgraded from Windows 7. They add too much crap that we don't need, to newer versions of their programs.

Likely Google and Apple.

2 step verification is never a bad idea and a button that says unavailable implies that you can't get the item, whereas a button that says bundle only is pretty self explanatory.

they are: Android

I understand you perfectly. Windows 10's interface is all over the place. Try to find one specific setting. It could be anywhere.

They aren't. They don't make any money doing that, none. They make money selling ads.

so you think "software" is a business model not a product?  that is one of your weirdest viewpoints yet to elevate ms and deflate everyone else..

Windows 10 is great! The new Xbox interface isn't that good though but I guess I still haven't got used to it. I still feel like the UI on the 360 was better than the UI on the X1.

Not a fan of their tile layout which they introduced on Windows 8. Looks like shit in my opinion. Most desktop owners would probably agree with me on that. They try and push phone/tablet designs on desktop users and it didn't work one bit.

It also seems like they try and dumb everything down so much but it fucks with your ability to do the things you actually want to do.  I'm sticking with 7 till I get a new PC which won't happen till 2020 or so which is the time they will stop supporting 7.  Their annoying upgrade to Windows 10 update that they pushed onto computers that have install automatic updates is terrible.  The GMX program would crash constantly on boot up on my PC.  Why the fuck would I upgrade to 10 if your stupid upgrade program can't even work properly?  I had to delete the update that GMX came in just to shut it the fuck up.

Windows 10 is a mess that makes no real sense. You have to google how to find settings that are tucked away in a completely unintuitive corner somewhere. They change and add things without telling you about them and you have to hope that someone else had the same problem and has figured it out already.

My Windows 10 was freezing up at the desktop on about 1 in 5 boots. Restarts after an error were even worse, as the OS would hang before ever making it to the interface. Turns out the problem was a new Windows 10 speed startup setting that was set to ON as a default. I didn't even know about this and had to trawl through forum posts about other people having the same trouble.

Microsoft makes changes based on whatever theme they're going for, not based on what people really want. They change and go back or throw in something new just because that's what they want. WHY does my start menu have to look like a mobile phone? I loved what I had with Windows 7, why can't I have that back? Why have you taken colors away from window frames?

As far as Microsoft web structure, dear lord. I used to work with Microsoft and so many of their internal links are broken or outdated. Their knowledge base is like a landfill. The thing is, Microsoft rebrands so often and it leaves their links in a state of mixed up chaos that takes forever to get fixed, if at all. It's just so massive that you can easily stumble over something that takes you down a dead end. I remember times where my internal information was way behind the information already given to the public, which is kind of funny.
