Forums - Gaming Discussion - Digimon Cyber Sleuth and character design

So, I haven't played the new Digimon game since I still don't have enough money to spend on the 3 games I want (MGSV, Naruto and this one), but I've noticed the new character design vary a lot from the original manga and adventure series. Is it me or does it seem more "ecchi"?

vs

I know that Sora is supposed to be something like 11, but she doesn't change much even in digimon 2 or Tri (14 and 17). It's not that I complain, but do you think the franchise could be "damaged" and classify by newcommers as typical niche ecchi japanese games? Doesn't seem so much of a big deal to me but it's something I noticed

Since I'm oldschool with Digimon I'll always prefer the original look and designs over the new ones.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

That it is. Things like these just show how Japan is changing socially. Guys would rather stay inside and beat off to hentai then go outside.

Well anyways, at least the game is good.

If you're asking if it looks better now, yes it does.

Original look was good at the time for the audience it was targeting.

Now the game is targeting a somewhat more different audience.

Hence why its Rated T and not E.

Pretty much this.

The character designer just tends to do looks like that. He did the light novel Durarara!, Shin Megami Tensei Devil survivor 1 and 2, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, etc.

Shouldnt this thread be in the Sony discussion section since its exclusive to Playstation?

Asking because of what happened to my thread recently ;o

Don't know, I think it's something that involves more than just the game in particular, but a whole franchise and a trend in some games in general.

If I made a mistake a mod maybe can move it though

I don't think the series will be damaged, but it may turn potential consumers away due to the style and design of the characters in the game. They may consider it too Japanese/anime or something. Maybe not something except people into anime/manga would be interested in it. I mean, what is up with that character in her underwear for crying out loud...

Also, it kinda bugs me that the guy in white and blue looks like the MC of Devil Survivor 2, haha...

Same guy drew them both so it makes sense.
