Any other amateur or pro photographers on here? I've been taking pictures for a couple of years and making a real effort to do so for about a year, and I'm always keen to see what other people come up with. It's good for inspiration.

If you've taken any photos you thought were kinda cool, show them off here! I'll dig up some of mine in a bit.

So, I have it on good authority that someone else does plan to post in here, so I may as well actually attempt to keep this thread alive. At least for a little while.

I'm really into fashion photography (seriously, I've got five bookcases near-full with fashion magazines) and try to pull a lot of inspiration from that.

A friend of mine was doing an all-redhead cabaret/burlesque show with a few friends recently for our Fringe festival, and I did shots of the cast as a favour to them. This was maybe my favourite shot from the day:

(That's my friend, with a couple of those big fans that burlesque dancers use.)

Meanwhile, if you've taken anything you thought looked really cool (whether edited or not), share it. Don't be shy!

Love the pic and the colours are amazing. I have some friends who do photography as a job for various things so I end up looking at a lot of their work when they are around or when I go over.

I've tried my hand at it but my stuff is always hit and miss. Got a few decent pics on my phone but this site is so archaic you can't post pictures from your phone or tablet -_-

Thats a pretty great picture... though I feel thats more her doing than yours.
The fans make pretty paterns, and her eyes, thats a strong gaze.

Some of the feathers in the fan have a double vision thingy going on though, it kinda bugs me.

Not as bad as this but, its always annouying.

Thanks! The colours weren't as good in the unedited version, the water behind her was sort of green and didn't complement her fans as much.

I think most people's stuff is hit or miss, but as you get more experienced, and as you just expose yourself to more photography, the hits become much more frequent. I've still got a lot to learn but I'm much more capable than I was when I first picked up a DSLR. The good stuff doesn't happen purely by accident anymore, which is what it felt like when I was just starting out. Learning a bit about how to make use of Photoshop and especially Lightroom helped me as well, although I've seen people take amazing stuff just using their phones as well.

I've never tried uploading from my phone, it's probably more archaic than this site. :P I'm using postimage. Anyway, here's one more shot for now. Did this one recently, too, with another friend. Just a bit of a road trip for fun, we actually borrowed a friend's old Ford Falcon and drove around the coast for a day.

Trust me, that shot took more work than it looks like it did. We were operating in direct sunlight, ended up pulling over a huge umbrella to cover her so the lighting wasn't harsh. Experimented for a bit until we found an angle that worked. There was a reasonable amount of tweaking of contrast/colour in post, too. If it doesn't look like it's needed a lot of work, though, I take that as a compliment.

Oh, and the "double vision" is depth of field. The feathers closest to and farthest away from my friend are out of focus, because the focus is on her face and I was using a really wide aperture. I guess that bit's a matter of personal taste.

Ah, you watched ANTM as well? That's what got me into photography. Saw the show, then discovered the actual industry (of which ANTM is not a particularly good reflection).

Bit bummed that ANTM's over but the last couple of seasons were pretty low-budget. They haven't been producing the sort of great images they managed during their heyday.

It is kinda strange that in this generation of mobile photography and Instagramers that no one replied to your thread.
Guess it is intimidating to start of, that's why after putting some content (gorgeous BTW), they'll come.

Since it's best to follow with action, here they come! Excuse the amateurish filters from Instagram xD
(I don't have that many more. Rarely post images there, just like I do on other social medias)

Oh my god, I *love* paella. Filters aside, that's actually a really nice shot. I had my first crack at food photography a few months ago for a restaurant here in Adelaide, and I was looking at very similar ways of placing food. I might dig some of it up later.

What's the second shot of? It kind of looks like a really big fan crossed with a trampoline. Also really cool.

I shall heed your encouragement! I photograph men as well, though. Actually, I mentioned shooting the whole cast of the show that first shot was from, and that included a guy.

We were doing for a bit of a derelict travelling vaudeville theme. There are actually two guys in the cast, but one was interstate and couldn't make it over in time to do the shoot.

Here's the poster! I pulled it from a post on my Instagram (thanks, TomaTito!).

I also did individual shots of the other cast members. The ones of the guy in the middle and the girl on the far left (our strongman and our contortionist respectively) might be my favourites.

That guy's pretty buff for a 47-year-old!

Here are some I took in Vegas with my Sony a3000

Photography isn't part of my forte, haha... I'm more of a pencil guy, but it's cool to see there are other people here with different talents. xD Photographs are pretty handy for me as it provides good references for drawing certain poses and scenery. I hope more cool photos will be added here.
