I never owned a wii but bought a WiiU, one of the selling points was definitely the backwards capabilities. I couldn't justify buying a wii because there wasnt enough titles that interested me and there also weren't enough WiiU titles that interested me to buy a WiiU if it wasn't BC. But combined there was enough titles to convince me to buy one. So I guess you can say BC is a selling point, at least for me it was.

if you didn't own a wii then it makes even more sense to get a wii u because of BC. I was happy about the GC BC on the wii, but then when i got the wii u i was suddenly wishing i had my GC again so i could put my GC and wii u out instead of wii and wii u.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I've owned and used all the main Ninten consoles xD The only one I don't have is the GC, as my Wii replaced it since it was BC. Poor purple box had no use left anymore... : (

I gave it away to a friend though..

I've owned/played every single Nintendo home console and portable.

The only thing I dont have/never actually played (excluding Store demos) was the Virtual Boy.

Man, I need to pick up a Virtual Boy, been curious to see if it gives you really bad headaches. xD

I own a VirtualBoy and haven't had problems with headaches (I also suffer from frequent migraines). That said, you should be playing in a darker room without interruptions as it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the light changes. The only issue I've had is that it will exacerbate tired eyes, so you need to be pretty fresh to jump into VR. Also, I've found the 3D effect to be stronger than that of the 3DS.

Obviously I had a Wii, was here during the NintenDomination. Still the reason why I bought a WiiU at launch was the Wii backwards compatibility. I was moving away to the Netherlands and I could not really take the Wii with me, instead of getting a cheap Wii decided to invest on the new console.

The first six months I was mainly playing with Wii games and NintendoLand. It was during this time that I saw how badly Nintendo implemented the backwards compatibility... even though they did do some of it years later.

My Wii collection is around 60+ games (here's an incomplete list due to VGC database destruction), and my current WiiU collection stands only at 25. I'm guessing my final WiiU collection will be half of that of the Wii, and that drop will be mainly due to the third party exodus (half of my Wii titles are third party).

BTW, nice topic

I got my Wii in or around Jan 2007 and I got my Wii-U sometime in the fall of 2013. I thought the Wii was alright, but the Wii-U has been my favorite 8th generation console by far.

Have a Wii, don't see the point to a WiiU.

Never had a Wii but own a Wii U and I love it has some great exclusives which all have massive replay value. If Splatoon never released I'm not sure if I would of purchased a Wii U but glad I did.

No, had both since launch. That's why Wii U is a huge dissapointment.
