Forums - Sony Discussion - should I invest in PS Move controller now before Playstation VR drops

I see in promos and in articles that Playstation VR will utilize the PS Move controllers, so my question is should I invest in these controllers now while they are cheap?  Does anyone know if they will be the same controllers or will they be some version 2.0 of the move.

Honestly no.
My guess is most VR titles wont need the camra or the move controllers.
Your dual shock 4 and the VR headset will probably be enough for most games.

isn't camera necessary for headtracking and therefore like the right analog stick for camera control in normal games? because if that is the case pretty much every vr game will require a camera.

Im not sure. Ive heard people say as you do, on the other hand I dont see why you would need it for that.

I think the camra is for body motions (not head turning, which a sensor in the headset should easily be able to detect).

Basically camra + move controllers is for games where you want to use your body to do things "in game", instead of the dual shock.

ALL VR titles will need the camera, it's there to make the tracking robust and eliminate drift

and you don't only need it for ducking/standing, but for leaning in on things/around the corner, both of which are possible while sitting, that's why VR without positional tracking is subpar and Sony won't offer it like that

That is wrong. The Camera is absolutely necessary as the camera tracks the headset and without proper headtracking there is no VR.

The PSVR will have the camera packaged inside and mandatory.

I am quite sure the Move Controllers will also be inside but not necessarily maybe they will have two  bundles.

To the OPm  do not buy move controllers now I am sure you will be able to get a good bundled deal on them and get them cheaper in the end that way.

I thought that i remembered Sony in the past, saying that the light on the back of the DS4 controller, that most of us would have loved to just shut off, up to this point, was going to have a use in VR. I thought all that we needed besides the VR Headset, was going to be a camera.

There will be plenty of VR games that do not require Move Controllers.

However some will.

It's too bad sony can't just make a DS4 controller, that you can split in half, by like maybe unsecuring a tab or something, and use like move controllers. It didn't take me very long to get rid of my move controllers for my PS3. I just didn't like the way they felt.

yea, sounds like a good idea for PS5 - maybe they should do that for PS4 if VR proves to be a good market, but then again I want the tech to be up-to-date and not "just" on Move lvl (Move already is pretty good, but there is better stuff now) to be compatible to the Move stuff

I believe they will simply bundle the Move controllers with VR games that need them.
