I thought it was pretty boring honestly. It's probably a lot more fun to play in co-op though. But I want so much more from a Donkey Kong game. DKCR was fine and fun because of nostalgia but Tropical Freeze was so unnecessary. I still don't understand why they aren't more ambitious with the DK franchise. Say what you will about DK64 but at least it tried to take the series to a new level and it worked for me and many other people.

Most reviewers have become a joke, the only reviewers i respect now are GameXplain. Even though they may have some bias here and there for reasons, they make really good reviews. But in the end of the day. Reviews dont meant anything.

Eh, their Super Mystery Dungeon review could have been better. Also reviews mean a lot unfortunately, hence why we're talking about them right now lol.

Good lord, thats the definition of a horrible review. It has been quite sometime since i had seen such a horrible review.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It's Gamespot. They've had an anti-Nintendo bias for YEARS. (And I don't throw that term around lightly.)

Yep, I've noticed that before, that's why I avoid them at all costs.

So DKCR was fine but DKCTF is unnecessary because... you played DKCR first? That's grade A reviewer logic!

Unnecessary because after playing DKCR I wasn't nostalgic anymore and TF still relied too much on nostalgia for me to be entertained.

What? xD
The game might not be the best platformer of this gen, but it´s great at every point. Uninspired levels? Come on! I´ve found Yoshi´s Woolly World more uninspired than this, and that game is also a great addition to the platformer genre, but DKTF is close to be a masterpiece, or at least, a must have to anyone who likes platformers.
Also, not mentioning it has the best soundtrack in recent years is reason enough to not trust their opinion at all. The game has the best soundtrack in a while, period!
Also, the visuals are stunning.
I would give the game an 8.0-8.5, a 6.0 is simply a joke. But then, it´s his opinion and I respect that, so... ok xD

I understand its not really the score but what they criticize here that's the issue. Yes the website, allowed the review and yes some of their Nintendo reviews are below average [in quality, nevermind the score]. What I will say though is to call Gamespot in general bias seems a bit unfair. ALBW was their GOTY and despite not caring so much about reviews anymore, I found their XCX score very extensive and Splatoon their score fair. Tough, to be also fair, it was done by the same reviewer.

...kinda late to the party for this this was a thing and there were plenty of angry threads when it was a relevant game

Tropical Freeze is by far the best DK game evet made in my opinion so I say this review is all fucked up.
