We are well into this generation, and I think at this point, it is fair to judge all our 8th ge hardware wouldn't you say?
Let's compare the 3DS to the rest.
Vs PS vita - No competition. Honestly, I'm not even going to get into it for the sake of brevity.
Vs PS4/X1 - I'm bundling these two together because they are essentially the same platform (considering they share 90% of the same games and there are minor hardware differences). The 3DS has JRPGs, something that these consoles severely lack. Also, the 3DS has the definitive online experience (in my opinion). On ps4 and x1, most of the online games are shooting and get boring after awhile (in my opinion). The 3DS has zelda triforce heroes which is a real creative and fun experience to cooperatively play online. I know a lot of people shat on this game when it was revealed last e3, but nintendo has shown us once again that they know what they're doing. On top of that, you have to pay to play online on ps4 and x1, but not on 3DS. So you get to play amazing games online AND for free. There is just no beating that. I know the ps4 and x1 are more powerful than the 3DS... but so is the vita, and most of us are in agreement that the 3DS is clearly better than the vita, so that argument doesn't hold much water. If you're going to go the hardware route, then you're basically saying the sega saturn is better than the snes because it is more powerful. That argument just doesn't work. 3DS wins.
Vs Wii U - 3DS edges it out because of more titles. If the Wii U had as many games as the 3DS, it would probably be the better platform. But sadly, the Wii U has less, but still some great experiences to be had. 3DS wins.
What do you guys think? The 3DS is the best platform to play video games on currently on the market (in my opinion).
