Forums - Gaming Discussion - I know the many of us do NOT like Gamestop but...

Game selection is okay, but my number one issue is their policy to open new games and put stickers on the boxes. Makes it really hard to differentiate the value between it and a used copy.

I should note can avoid this if you pre-order, but if I am pre-ordering I do it on Amazon where I get 20% off any video game pre-order.

Two console generations ago, the manager then thought I was a Sony rep for the longest time.  I dunno why...

Haha, that's funny... Were you close with some of the people at that GS? I exchanged some words a few times with the employees, but not enough to get that familiar with each other.

I treat EBgames about the same as other retailers.. though I would usually buy from Best Buy because of free shipping, but there is a new game at EBgames at normal price not sold at other retailers, I would buy it from there.

I like gamestop. I save alot of money buying new/used games from them and trading in the games I'm not done with. My local store has changed out managers and I noticed this one isn't as good as the old one. The old manager would basically beg ya to preorder games and he would hand out preorder lists. Under the new manager, none of the employees ask ya about preorders and they act like it's an inconvenience to them to print out a list. I only preorder games that I really want and I like to use those lists to plan out my purchases.

My local gamestop is a disaster. A very expensive one too..... Years ago in Ireland when I was a lad......They used to have buy one get one free or at least buy 2 get 1 free. When a console was outdated, you'd pick up the older games for a few euros. Console bundles meant buy the console and get a tonne of free shit...

Now, they have no deals. Their second hand game offers are all the same or more expensive than online. Their bundles are fucking horrific!! Cheapest Wii U was 299.99 for a basic wit 2 games, while argos had the same one for 166.99. I used to go in for fun. Eventually I went in to laugh at their prices. Now I am so offended by ther shite that I just pass the store and remember what used to be.

I rape them on used Skylanders. Buy 2 get 3 free. Plus, I get the power-up discounts on top of that. I actually like them again. Most of the employees are friendly compared to before. One of them even knows me by name after one visit. Yet, they are still uninformed about a lot of things. Mostly about Skylander and Disney Infinity compatibility.

There is one Gamestop that I will never go to again though. The employees there don't help the customers and just bullshit amongst themselves and their friends that come in. Then when I went to purchase a $2 used game, he kept trying to push $1 warranty on me and wouldn't take no for an answer. Then I just said, " Come on man, I don't want that shit" I wanted to punch that arrogant bitch in his face.

I always go to Microplay in Brantford. (Part of a Quebec video store chain)
It's run by a very passionate owner and they have pretty much everything from board games, to obscure game toys to 3 generations of video games and accessories. Last week I was looking for the physical version of the Talos principle for ps4, $52 on Amazon, he had it in the next day for me for $35.

My local EBgames (Gamestop) employees are uninformed about anything not Xbox related so I rarely go to them the past few years.

Don't they like anything that's not Xbox?
