They would be better served buying Microsoft... yes they can afford that too.  And then the PC/Mac situation would get interesting.  There has been no real competiotion in the PC arena ever since Microsoft took over.  We need some REAL competition in this market.

Wii U - $299
iWii U - $799

Funny and original.

In both cases, however, you are paying for an overpriced product

Except a lot more people would be cheering for the product that costs $799 for no particular reason.

Nah, the Wii U is trash even when you slap an Apple logo on it. It will flop just like the iPad Pro and the Apple Watch.

Apple likes to post profits and have wide profit margins. Unless they changed their mind, Sony is clearly not their target.

Two things....

- Think about that for a second...

- That isn't always how acquisitions work.

OT: While it's fun to dream about these things (for the few in here that will/do), none of this is happening.

I doubt Apple will do anything soon with their 200 billion as majority is in place like Ireland and using it would mean paying taxes on it. With numbers so huge even waiting for fractions of a percent change in tax laws could affect how they handle their cash reserves.

- What do I have to think?

- So you edited, and added always. My point still stands then. So, again, what do I need to think again?

"Apple likes to post profits and have wide profit margins"

Is Sony stuck in the past? Like I said - think. Your point - Apple would want to pick up a company posting profit. Right? How is Sony not in that category?

Is every of Sony divisions posting profits?

You said "Sony", not "Divisions of Sony" (which is reaching, anyway, since plenty of acquisitions are made, despite struggling branches of a company - something Sony now has very few of).

They posted $993m of operating income for Q3 (up 11% from Q2). That's what counts, here.

Sega is pointless, their value has long since passed.

Nintendo though from Apple's POV wouldn't be a bad get. Exclusive Nintendo games on their iPhones, iPads, Macs, the ability to turn AppleTV into a full fledged console, etc. etc.

The problem with that is Nintendo would not willingly want to sell and they are positioned well against hostile takeover bids because they own a large chunk of their own stock.
