Also, I don't think me reacting on Linkin park not being metal as a bad thing, it's the fact that he considered it metal, which just adds more questions: If your favorable Metal bands aren't metal and you in general doesn't like metal, why are you even discussing it. That is my entire point

Out of interest, what do you class Linkin Park as? I've always seen them as nu-metal (and I do listen to metal music).

Alternative-rock/Hardcore punk/Goth(Original goth music is Electronica) with metal distortion on the guitars. If People consider distortion as the only tool that makes something metal, metal. They are free to believe so if they wish but distortion is only a effect-pedal that distort the sound, metal is only best known for turning the overdrive at max.

That's a few too many genre definitions for me, lol. I miss the days when bands were just rock or metal!

So, after an hour (and a lifetime) of listening (depending on where you want to believe I'm coming from) I've noticed that their are very little Artists who are decent singers. Theirs the exceptions of course but their seem to be very little, Fred Durst maybe. the lead from Radio head and the rapper from linkin park and a few others ...but if you disagree with this please, in a disscussion devoid of fanboyism, prove me wrong with names, links emmeded videos. Proof.

And if you agree with me, please be polite and no hatefull crap. Music discussions can turn as volitial as Religious debates so cop on.

I honestly think you are trolling

You want good metal singers?

Ozzy Osbourne - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3b6SGoN6dA

Bruce dickinson, Robert Plant, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield aren't good singers is that what you are saying?

Lol hell no, metal is vastly superior, i know a lot of metal vocalist that can do both. Try scream for 3 minutes straight and tell me thats easy

Give me a reason and I'll prove ya wrong ;P But, yeah, I'm not talking vocal power here, I'm talking vocal range and consistency.

This is a song from a solo project of Bruce Dickinson (lead sanger Iron Maiden) showing that power and consistency can go very well hand in hand. Considering Iron Maiden practically is the most mainstream New wave of British Heavy metal band it's one of the purest forms of metal out there.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

A lot of people have already pointed out numerous examples of great metal singers, so I'm not going to list of too many, but a few good examples would be Bruce Dickinson, Michael Kiske, Rob Halford and Ian Gillan. They are all on the older, more traditional side of metal.

I do have to question the choice of Fred Durst as an example of a good singer. I find very few redeeming qualities in his singing, metal or not. Just seems like a very odd example to list, and for a moment actually made me wonder if this thread was just some pointless bait attempt.

There are over 80 different sub-genres of Metal.

Despite this being a massive insult to metal fans, i understand the power of ignorance is not to be under-estimated.

Educate yourself on a topic instead of stealth-trolling the fanbase behind it.

Linkin park and radiohead is not metal, it's rock....

I don't need to prove shit to people who doesn't even do their own research before asking others to do it for them. Metal is doing fine without you

The exact kind of hollow reply that is worth no more than "LOL U RONG!"

How about you explain why OP is "wrong" instead of claiming he is as if it's some innate fact. Having listend to countless different genres, metal rarely has talented singers. No matter what people want to claim, screaming takes far less talent than skillful singing.

TLDR: That's equivalent to the statement that Pop music is best designed as a platform for bad instrumentalists. In reality, this is not true as we can find great musicians and vocalists in all genres. What you are instead doing is comparing different genres - and more specifically subgenres - based upon norms that can be found within that genre that may not reflect upon all practising musicians as a whole.

Actually I'd argue that some genres, like hard house, hardcore, hardstyle, NRG etc are utterly devoid of talent. The reason is the music is just made for people off their heads on ket and MDMA. So with that being said, when the purpose of a genre isn't to do with the music per se, then it tends to have a low standard of quality - with metal being more for protest than the music, I'd argue that's why in general it's quality is quite low.

The best I can do is give an example of one band I know who has a good singer. Protest The Hero.
Though their sub genre kind of demands for it.
